I totally agree the music and friends are most important, but there are always venue related factors that influence how a night goes. For example at Tiesto @ Docks we had to carry our coats around all night, that put me in a horribly grumpy mood. I am so so so happy about Kyau and Albert being booked in TO, but I've been to the docks so many times that there is always something that puts a damper on my night when I am there ! |

Exactly
+99
I hated standing in line with my coat for 45 minutes while the ball dropped. That and they advertised Trance all night on NYE in the main room and it ended up being jungle till 2? Poor set up can effect your night. Thats why I am not a big fan of the Docks. If you say your going to have Walter Rosati spin, Have Him Spin!!! |

true, but it's not the volume that's the problem, the clarity of sound is horrible, and the reverb in the bass frequencies is unacceptable, this has nothing to do with the islanders.. it could still sound amazing and not piss off the islanders..
now tides and parkview were well setup and sounded great.. |

I try to avoid getting drawn into arguments about the pro's and con's of the Docks as a venue
Working there and trying our best to please and then seeing the negative comments can be pretty disheartening
I'm aware of the problems , i don't even want to comment on coatcheck as that has absolutely nothing to do with me although I will admit its a huge problem.
Remember please that we are on "sudden death " with the city , meaning ONE noise complaint and we are gone for good , no second chances.
The Sound is a compromise at best , we try each event to make it better without starting the islanders off on a rant. I think we get closer but I would like to see anyone else "tune" the system with so many constraints , its like owning a ferrari and then being told to only drive it backwards down the autobahan.
Please remember people like Destiny try very hard to bring in talent that can't /won't play Guv-- Not knocking Guv , i love the place , but there is way more to DJ/Agent/Venue politics than most of you know.
EDM events only make up less than 10% of the venues revenue stream which is mostly concerts and corporate.
The owners are more likely to give up on EDM events (and therefore some dj's would no longer be seen in T.O ) than put up with the constant negativity
Toronto today has one of the best scenes in the world , but the resulting "spoilt brat" attitude of a small minority of clubbers could kill the goose that layed the golden egg, sound systems are getting louder and not always better , some people equate the dB level as quality ie the louder the better.
This is not an accurate representation , some of the worlds most famous sound systems are renowned for being quality not quantity and not so loud that you leave with a headache.
Like i said everyone is entitled to thier opinions, and much of the critisism is valid , however there are a lot of people who jump on the bashing bandwagon or are using the forum as a vehicle to bash one venue to the benefit of another (we all have our favourite venues, don't need to bash the others) Put simply if you hate the Docks that much don't come. If you do great but the option is we won't do any more EDM events and who does that help ?? |

Finally a sound expert , when can we hire you , where have you been all our lives cam you program symnet V3.0 and 16 dx38's running in parallel and follow the city enginners guidlines as to which frequencies to notch and which ones should be heavily comressed ?? |
