| Infinity has a point...The man can still mix...I'm not a fan of oakenfold, and the tracks that he plays but he still has skills on the wheels of steel... |

| He's stuck in a time warp & stale. He's not update, he plays old tunes. His attitude sux. He's over rated & over paid. His style & sound hasn't evolved like S&D or even Pvd. Oakie is for beginners newbies in the scene. He's like pot a gateway to other DJ's & Genres. |

i don't think u have any base for ur argument.. considering the subject of this thread..
fine.. maybe some of his stuff is mainstream.. but so what.. i think ignorance is of virtue here...
old tunes.. go find his latest playlist..
if u can actually FIND 50% of his tracks.. i would be very surprised... |

| how can i justify that?! well hmmm, lemme see. i have seen him twice. both times he was ok at best, and he trainwrecked in both sets MORE THAN ONCE. this is not acceptable of a 'superstar' dj. his mixing is as short as it absolutely has to be. he changes over on most tracks much to fast, and it sounds awful. go listen to his cream cds and tell me that the mixing is good (as compared to something like say, a sasha live set). this is no different on his last release on Perfecto. great tracks, lousy mixing. the man just doesn't put any effort into it anymore. he is only doing it cause he gets paid well... |

I don't listen to Oakie but I have seen him 2x. Not impressed. He played old tracks. His 2 latest releases sound the same, virtually the same tracks. My argument is that he sux. His style hasn't changed. There is nothing worse than a DJ who used to be good & now sux. U can tell in his sets that he's just doin it for the $ & not love & passion like PVD, Digweed or Sasha. |

im gonna have to go the route w/ twilo this time. he may have been good once upon a time. i could also see where mixing the same songs over and over again in different studio mix cd's would be ok (educating the newbies)...but when you hear those same tracks in all his live sets [including airtight, ubik, and bullet in the gun] you can tell the man is tired. unless oakenfold revamps, he's out.

though i heard his set at ultra was pretty sweet! rocked da house so hey! he might just be getting back into it! i hope sooo...damn, hate to see a good dj gone bad. |

exactly. Instead of producing new tracks, he releases a new remix of Bullet in the Gun. When will he wake up & realize no matter how many times he remixes it it will always be cheesy. If u'll notice 50% of the records he plays are on his label. He's a $ hungry sell out. It's a shame b/c tranceport is classic. |

he is a brilliant dj whether u like it or not. playing the same songs.. sorry, but that ain't true.. i dunno what u listenin to.. and even so, u can argue that sasha and pvd play the same tunes also..
Mory Kante - Yeke Yeke Yeke.. has atually been played by sasha since beginning of last year up until now and is about 10 years old.. as for pvd.. we all know he plays a lot of the same tracks..
i will agree that he was better before.. but that doesn't make him bad now.
count how many times Tiesto's played Delerium - Silence..
compare it with oakey..
count how many times there is a NEW remix of Bullet in the Gun BY oakenfold.. and i think u'll find that at MOST.. theres 1 new mix by him.. others are RITM, solar stone, etc..
u wanna play "which song has been remixed more"? Bullet in the Gun.. has what.. 10 remixes?
theres a lot of tracks out there which exceed that which people deem as being brilliant..
who CAREs if its on his label.. people don't listen to trance to compare it to what label its on..
i do believe there is a new Oakenfold Produced track out.. well out last year released now.. can't remember the name..
new remixes for Mekka, etc...
just by lookin at what you think of the new Voyage Into Trance shows how much u base ur argument on personal preference and not actual fact..
who do you think was one of the djs who brought acid house about... and goa trance? who was at the beginning of that? oakenfold.. don't tell me he's playing that stuff now..
i'm not an oakey fan.. but i think that ur argument kinda sucks and is based on the fact that u don't like him in general.. and nothing to do with the music.. |

No 1 on this board is stating facts...its all opinions. & ppl who have been in the scene for a long time & have a good taste agree w/me. Only the newbies like Oakenfold.
What makes him a brilliant DJ????
I don't like his attitude. He once said the U.S isn't ready for his muzik. What muzik he hardly produces! He's too mellow & stale. He isn't passionate bout DJing...he's just in it for the $$$.
He doesn't play at clubs anymore. He prefers to pack venues at $45 a ticket for a stale 2 hour set. He's stuck in a time warp. What does he think... he's giving a concert? As a top DJ he should be playin new tracks, his sets should be fresh. I didn't know Voyage into trance is a goa album. U argue everything I say...ur no music sage. & ur song infernal- sunrise is not all that. |

all i can say is, wow. im sitting here staring at the screen. you have no right in judging infinity like you did. i myself happen to think infernal did an excellent job in producing sunrise. its all in opinion. no one on this board is stating anything other than that. and no you are not the final word.
