I’m not really one for horoscopes. I read them occasionally, but don’t ever put much stock into them. They are basically a fun diversion when there aren’t any baseball scores to kill a couple minutes with over my morning cup of coffee. The one I read today was actually pretty good though “An act of faith could pay off for you, Clint. Maybe there is something you have been working towards for a long time. You might have applied yourself to this goal for years. You may also have prayed to help with this thing. You could receive some wonderful news now. Maybe you will experience a significant breakthrough that will make your dreams come true. Or you could hear something encouraging that will reaffirm your faith.”
It wasn’t until I was doing a Google to see where the new url was coming up and found STIFF in the CNN indie scene 2006, that I realized how spot on the horoscope was today. http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2006/in...ontent.1.8.html
I was pretty blown away. The fest is going into its third year and we are ecstatic watching it turn into such an incredible platform for indie film, but for a national publication to mention us in the same breath as local heroes Death Cab for Cutie and Modest Mouse, and two of my favorite events (Bumbershoot and Sasquatch) was simply beyond anything that I ever could have imagined at this point. It isn’t like I was losing faith in filmmaking or the festival after plugging away at it as long as we have, but there is really something about the national press mentioning us in the same article as Richard Linklater, Mos Def and SXSW that really ratchets my excitement level up a couple notches.
I really want to thank the filmmakers and sponsors that have helped put us on the map. Being able to show films like Burning Annie, Beach Party at the Threshold of Hell and Two Front Teeth has made it easy to pitch to sponsors like Victory Studios, R-E-D, Subpop and Barsuk. The support of the Stranger, Seattle Weekly, Seattle Times and UW Daily has been phenomenal and has made it easy to get cutting-edge local filmmakers like Karl Krogstad, Chris Diani, Tim Christensen and Will Lemke to help us build the platform out.
I can’t wait to start sharing some of the exciting new things that are in store for 2007. This is going to be a great year. Thanks for all of your help so far! I should also remind everyone that we are currently accepting films for 2007. If you have a unique indie film, we’d love to see it. Check out http://www.trueindependent.org for more details.

Who wants to guess how long it takes for his next alt to arrive?
:conf:
I'm guessing within 12 hours - Though that may even be a stretch. |
