It sure is a skill... but once you've learned it, it's like "meh". I'd rather focus on the mixer or filters/effects or whatever else I'm doing during the mix with two hands, rather than one hand on the pitch slider hoping it doesn't drift at all.

Yeah, see that is why I love vinyl. The challenge and having to stay on top of the mix. It's a skill, ya know? Its why I found going to cd's extremely easy, well... because they are noob. :) |

You can do all that you just said while mixing vinyl. It just takes a lot of practice. :) |

And I do, its just easier and more reassuring with the CDJs
I dont know if I would even dare play vinyl out at a club today, all the 1200s I see are falling apart and usually wind up as CD holders.

| To me they're both just as easy but I guess some of us have troubles. |

| I really want to try mixing with CDJs. :( But home remodeling and anniversary gifts have wiped out the upgrade budget for some time. |

Bah, with CDJ's you can hit play and have it locked in like 3 seconds.
Sure it's not impossible with vinyl, but it takes longer. I don't see how that's "as easy/difficult".

I wouldn't go so far as to say that. And anyone starting out on CDJs as their first piece of eqipment is not going to learn all that faster how to beatmatch than on vinyl. It's stil lthe first major hurdle, and using CDJs only makes it marginaly easier....

You know your right man, dont even bother arguing about it. Vinyl is just more fun for me because it gives me more of a challenge, but i desperately need cdj's, im sick of buying vinyl, and i don't like serato. |

That is certainly true...
However, coming from vinyl to CDJ's is much easier than the otherway around.
CDJ's give you the ability to "try this, is it matched? No, try that, is it matched? No... Try this, is it matched? Yes." And then it stays there.
With vinyl, you are dealing with a moving (slightly) target.
I have both, I play both, I like both. But I think it's pretty clear why so many DJ's have converted to CD's at this point.
Why don't you like Serato? I have Torq, and I really like the way you can search through your music and quickly find that perfect track. It's not as easy to do with CD's.

| I assume your asking me why i don't like serato? i have nothing against it in general. If i start playing out i dont like the idea of having to "set up" between dj's, i dont want to rely on a laptop. Just personal prefference really. |

I TOTALLY agree with that. I bought Torq for use at home.
When I play out, it's CD's.
