Hello, I came up with it today...it's not totally finished yet, I just would like to get some heads up...and know if it's worth finishing at all...any comments appreciated...

have a great day :-)

You gonna make this like Good Looking stuff? The soundscape is ok, but the rhythm sounds are too soft imo. Nice work, i like atmospheric stuff
Akia
Finish this! :toocool: I think itīs very cool, driving and with a nice atmosphere! Keep working on it!

I'm really getting into DnB... so it would be a shame for me to escape reviewing this. However, I have VERY LITTLE listening experience with this cool genre, so give me some slack.

I think the drums sound too "round"... Especially when the bassline and other atmospheric pads start to roll in. In fact, the bassline itself could use more torque and less of a digital bite. That would definately make it more DnB-ish. However, I love the pads, of course.

You will have to excuse my lack of comments about song structure -- it seems "alright", but it's just okay. I'm digging the focus on drums in the middle part. I'm feeling the drums to some degree, but they need more crunch and less roundness. Perhaps some more bass freqs on the bassdrum, and more highpass noise on that snare -- experiment with some distortion or limiting.

All in all, an engaging tune with some nice swirly pads and effects. THe melodies aren't so bad either, but I think they could go more places than the few that they go (so to speak).

5.5-6/10! (7 for the pads and atmosphere)

djkopernikus: Thanks, I kind of have a similar opinion...I will try to make rythm louder.

Akia: Thanks, driving? :) yes, that's the word I wanted to be said in this review...inspired by Pendulum's stuff I wanted to make something really full of energy. I believe not even tech-trance is as energetic as drum and bass.

B_man: You'll have to excuse me too, I don't know really much about this genre either. I just wanted to try, I think I will get around to finish this soon. Thanks for the suggestion about the drums, I will see what can I do with them! :)

Heya Booster!

I'm not into dnb at all, just heard a few songs, more to the psydb genre. :p

What i can here in this is that the kick sounds abit weak, i would like it to be more powerfull, maybe some more low freqs?

The synths is good, sounds kinda analog and nice :)

I like the bassline, how it evolves and the pattern is really driving and cool.

Cant say so much more, dnb is very new to me. Sounds cool though :)

hey Alex, thanks...I will be taking your suggestion about the kick for the final version...it's already half-way done :)

I hope you'll like it, once I finally finish it :D

thanks for feedback all :), more is always welcome :)

I have to agree with B_man, the track sounds a bit too Reason'ish at the moment. I understand your idea was not to create a floorfiller, but the drum samples suggest it was. What I mean is that the percussion is too edgy for liquid/atmospheric drum'n'bass but not powerful and raw enough for the traditional harder drum'n'bass. It's somewhere in between, which unsettles the listener. I hope you understand what I mean, hehe.

I really like the sound of the bassline though, good work there. Some very nice pads as well.

percussion need to flow better... try layering some different drum kits here... some cymbal rides will help better. the percs sound more like a sped up uk garage tune rather than dnb.
Lindo
YES! A drum and bass track...going to take a listen now.

BOOsTER
thanks guys, I will try to take your suggestions to the final version.

Lindo: I'm waiting for your review...actually I'm really interested to hear it :)

This is an interesting bit of techstep, I dropped it down from 160 to 155bpm and it seemed to carry your synth melodies a little better, just kept the ambience there, 160bpm just felt a little 'rushed'
Upped the gain on the mid and low range slightly to keep the darker, D&B feel to it.
But I liked it and I think it's more or less a finished product if you just want to fiddle with the equalisers a bit more and have a think about the whole pace of the track. :)
