$20 and a blowjob.

(Not from the bride, that would just be awkward)

I've had 2 DJ friends (who played EDM) work as professional wedding/ event DJ's. They both were excellent in their field.
One happened to play our wedding- Muff2k (Jarek)

Didnt Rich (Richard Taylor) DJ at Cecilia's wedding? Im pretty sure thats whut she told me at WEMF!
DarkAngel
I most likely wouldn't do it. I play what I like. No one and I mean NO ONE tells me how to play or what to play.
Muff2K
hey hey hey.

weddings are my thing.
and stags, graduations, xmas parties, birthday parties, house parties....

it's the best. i love taking /requests from people. grade 8's telling me i suck. smoking weed with the brides...

i love it.

I did DJ Nat and Graham's wedding last summer, and i did post a tracklist somewhere here, can't hunt it down however.

Now that was my favorite job ever, what other wedding was i gonna play Murder Was The Bass

Sure, why not?

I've dj'd corporate events for BMO, and actually might be doing our companies x-mas parties across Canada in '07. It's actually a lot more challenging than spinning electronic music - way tougher to put together technically.

@ Revival160 do you need a dj for a wedding ??

ing incredible wedding song! :D

Esp, even more so, if it was the track or mashup that Chris Liberator dropped that had the vocals from that one house song that goes:

"Dont smoke cigarettes, dont take any drugs, dont go out at night... JUST !"

Incredible. That would be the ULTIMATE wedding song ;)

Wasn't there a thread about wedding DJs few yrs back?

Anyways, while I'd be very reluctant to do weddings, I think it still would be a good experience. Learning to read the crowd, learning how to do quick transitions, dealing with annoying requests, etc.

You know that if you're doing a wedding, then you have a variety of people to cater to.

And people are damn picky about their music :toothless

DJing a wedding is a piece of cake. with enough experience you can read a crowd well.

based on their age group, and what genres they respond to the best in your 'garunteed hits' songs.

putting them together in a nice transitional order can be rough at times, but i've gone from the righteous brothers to house and pain and it's been great.

the hardest crowd to DJ for is youth.

they think they know everything, and request the dumbest (eg. good charlotte - which should never be played anywhere)

and the main problem with the kids is that the dudes are all 'too cool' to dance, and end up standing around, and it looks like the DJ is playing crappy music....

the pay is , and the crowd is horrible.
but whatever (smoke a joint and just go with it)

ive done it a couple time for family friends and had a great time. its easy to find music thats good, fun, and wedding friendly. plus its an easy way to make a few hundred bucks for a night.
DarkAngel
Maybe I would do it just once, but at a wedding for someone I didn't care for. I'd play a set similar to my ANTI-Holiday mix....

1. Yoji Biomehanika - Never End (Original mix)
2. Yoji Biomehanika - Monochroma (Romeo Toscani remix)
3. Yoji Biomehanika - Rain
4. Yoji Biomehanika - Hardhouse Raver (Don Diablo remix)
5. Luna - Bring that back
6. Alpha Twins - The Darkside (Dark mix)
7. Zanza Labs - Industrial bug
8. Zenith vs. Avex - Scream (Main Mix)
9. Remo-con - Streams
10.Remo-con - G-Sigh

....and see how fast I can clear out that reception hall. Just to be an . ROFL.
