A broken mixer

'scuse me, but I just need to vent.
After 3 years of faithful service my Numark DMX-06 decided to die on me tonight. It's survived my friends abusing it, drops, random spills of different liquids and today, after not even touching the thing for a week it just randomly died.
The record out is distorting like mad and the left side channel is completely dead in both record out and master out. I was gonna get a new mixer sooner or later anyway, so it doesn't really matter, but... I just feel like throwing the damn thing out of the window right now.
Oh well, there's a brand new mixer coming my way right now. |

Ya know, I never really noticed it but my friend apparently did one day. But yeah, I think you are right about that. Great mixer though. I got it used and love it! :) |

man you should consider yourself lucky that it lasted for 3 years!!! Its one of the weakest feeling mixers Ive had a chance to play around with
Ive got a chance to play with Denon DNX1500 (notice the lack of S) around the summer of 2005 and back then I could really notice the lag one the EQ's especially. Maybe a firmware update woulhave cured it or maybe the problem is obsolete nowadays, but if I were you Id play around with it for a couple of hours to see how it feels.
in about the same priceclass I'd reccomend Ecler Nuo4. Sure it doesant have effects but it has nice and big eq knobs that just about make up for the lack of effect processor :D |

| I figure three years out of a beginner mixer that only costs $250 to still be pretty decent. You can have my DXM 06 for $80 just for the hell of it, works perfectly. Pardoning the other mixer that is already on its way to you. |

I know, and in a way the breaking down was actually a good thing - I've been meaning to get a new mixer for ages now but have been putting it back constantly because - hey, I've got a working mixer already, there's no rush...
I just can't help but to wonder how it managed to fizzle out when I wasn't even using it... |

That's one of the wonderful things about modern electronics! I find that most of the failures I have experienced with electronics have come with little to no warning whatsoever. Go to power it up and it's just dead, no help needed. :( |
