I agree. I used to make my own kicks in the past. And it sounded like . Lately I've been using samples and it's much easier to get a clean mix now. My old kicks were too boomy and made my basslines sound muddy.

exactly! i use mostly vengeance kicks, personally i couldnt produce kicks like that in a million yrs so y bother trying, pick a kick eq an compress to taste an whoop there it is!
thesuperfunk
kicks generally get a boost around 100, cut at 250 and a boost somewhere between 4-6k

okay then...whats the best sample pack to check out for kicks? i don't know what "vengeance" is :nervous:
thesuperfunk
I'd go with either the Vengeance series or the Thomas Penton samples ...

I've always liked Ueberschall Techno Trance Essentials for their less hardstyle approach, more Ferry Corsten clean type of sound.

I also had a look around and found this today, it's Big Fish Audio 'Rush'. It seems like a good deal and sound, anyone tried it?

I'm sure any of these or superfunks sample packs would do the trick.

Hey jey, I was gonna ask you something over PM but I'm knackered right now. I'll get back to you later. ;)

wow i've got a lot to learn about all this stuff...gotta stay persistent :eyespop:

ok would someone plz let me hear a "good" kick? I won't use it or anything, I just want to hear the difference between what you think is a good solid kick and the crap that I've been playing with all day to get to sound half-decent

yes, i've read all the tutorials but its just putting into practice that I have trouble with...My ears aren't expereinced, hence bad EQ/compression

This is a kick and bass compressed together..no I'm not proud of it but I think its an improvement from the last one!

Dont use 909 samples because it will take too much time to make anything useful from them.

i'm too focused on minor details..i bet after i get a good kick i'm gonna get stuck on the percussion..i'll never get to the other stuff

ok here we go guys...vengeance vs. penton...votes?
jey
without doubt vengeance!!

im kinda stuck on precussion, can mix and eq it fairly well, can also make some nice sounding lead sounds but trying to put these together with a bassline!!!

will get there though!
