| Depending how large the bruise is, you may lose the nail. If it's not too bad, the dead tissue will just grow out as your nail grows...but it'll take forEVERRRRRRR. |

When I was a little kid, I slammed a car door on my middle finger. And of course, with my luck, the door was locked, so I couldn't get it open. My mom had already started walking toward the store, and by the time I started yelling for her, she was far enough away not to realize what was going on. Even after she realized, she panicked and couldn't find her keys. And this was before the little unlock button -- she had to actually put the key in to unlock it. lol. My finger was probably in there for a good minute or more.
My mom made me soak the finger in ice water for like a half hour... but yeah, I lost the nail. |

| If the nail is still intact, you won't lose it. However, it's going to hurt for good week, before you start to lose discomfort and swelling. Keep it under ice, as often as possible. Take care. :) |

Funny you say that. When I was about 4-5 years old, I slammed my thumb in the car door, and it happened to be locked, just like yours. I started flipping out and my brother came running over to see what happened. He tried openning the door, and realized it had been locked, so had to run to the other side of the car, crawl in from the drivers seat and back to where I was, unlock it, and push it open.
I lost my thumb nail... :(
I've lost a lot of nails growing up... it's always gross. If you hit it hard enough, you may lose the nail. |

| Try to keep your finger still, and try not to apply any pressure to the bruised finger, unless you're a freak for pain. ;) |

I'm glad you don't live with me, or else you'd probably trip over my cat, and injure yourself and her, badly. :wtf:
