| There was a lot of good Trance back in 99, but what about the mid 90s? Kimball Collins, Sven Vath, Paul Oakenfold, Talla, Paul Van Dyk, Sasha & Digweed, even Keoki, they all had some legendary Trance sets back in the day long before 99 |

The old Acosta-Nation (Shadow Lounge) mix CDs were classic as well.
1998 through 2002 was definitely when trance peaked in popularity, but to say that 1999 is when "trance was trance" is pretty funny IMO. No doubt the genre has changed, but for the better IMO. With technological advances more and more people can and are creating music, with different forms of trance and EDM emerging, which is good. A lot of people argue that there are a lot of productions in trance nowadays, but the fact is there are a lot of productions in all genres of music, and I can guarantee you it was no different back in 99. The trick is to find DJs that know the difference and know how to construct sets with good tracks that flow together nicely. |

Doubt it. I think Koky used to go to Shadow Lounge in its heyday, as well as Space, and the Trance nights in both places welcomed just about all of the above mentioned DJs.
Don't get me wrong, I loved George Avlarado's show, and am thankful someone here put up a recording from 1999. It's just that there were loads of good Trance tunes before then as well:
Legend B "Lost In Love"
Zyon "No Fate"
Armin Van Buuren "Blue Fear"
Ayla "Ayla Part II"
Union Jack "Two full moons and a Trout"
BT "Dreaming"
BT "Flaming June"
Energy 52 "Cafe Del Mar (Three N One Remix)"
Jones and Stephenson "The First Rebirth"
Bedrock "3.2 (Humate Remix)"
LSG "Fragile"
LSG "Netherworld"
Quench "Dreams"
Push "Universal Nation"
Poltergeist "Vicious Circles"
Crescendo "Are You Out There"
CJ Bolland "The Prophet"
Westbam "Wizards of the sonic"
Hardfloor "Aceperience"
Binary Finry "1998"
Space Frog "Follow Me"
Paul Van Dyk "Beautiful Place"
Paul Van Dyk "For An Angel"
Visions of Shiva "How Much Can You Take"
Astral Projection "Mahadeva"
Lost Tribe "Game Master"
Humate "Love Stimulation (Paul Van Dyk Remix)"
Cygnus X "Superstring"
Cygnus X "Orange Theme"
Hallucinogen "LSD"
Drax Ltd. II "Amphetamine"
Josh Wink "Higher State of Conciousness"
Agnelli & Nelson "El Nino"
Kai Tracid "Liquid Skies"
Brainchild "Symmetry"
Three Drives "Greece 2000"
Solar Stone "The Calling"
Marmion "Schoneberg (Marmion Remix)"
Cosmic Baby "A Tribute To Bladerunner"
Sven Vath "L'Esperanza"
Scooter "Rhapsody In E"
Tin Tin Out "Strings For Yasmin"
Moonman "Galaxia"
Chicane "Offshore"
