My CPU Issue Needs A Fixin'

For a few weeks now, I had some issue with my computer. Seems the CPU hits the 100% mark a little more frequent then it should. A few people told me it was a virus and to me, that would've been the valid conclusion.

I used a number of Anti-virus/Anti-spyware programs to see if it could find the problem. I found some spy/adware on the computer and one Trojan that was ironically in a Norton Antivirus program I had rar'ed up, but the problem is still present.

One major sympton is the lagging on the desktop. If I were to open My computer, any folder, or open up IE/Firefox, there's a slight lag time before the window opens. One other symptom is the mouse cursor. The cursor lags across the screen. Again, not too frequently, but enough to be bothersome.

I seriously hope it isn't the Harddrive failing. Any of you know what might be the problem? If it is indeed a virus attacking the CPU, what is the best program to find and fix this issue?

Haha. You know, the minute I saw my email that showed vtec replied, I knew it was a no good response :p

I wont be getting a mac anytime soon. However, I will be getting a new computer in April/May that has the new Intel Dual Core :p

Why get an all new computer? Just upgrade your mobo and cpu, it's cheaper and more fun.

Well it's a Pentium 4/2.00ghz...But the problem just happened recently. So I dont think it has anything to do with it.

I did.. from a Celeron. What I'm using now is a refurbished Dell Motherboard with a Pentium 4 attached I got about 2 years ago. I just want a fresh new PC with a new harddrive. The local C drive I'm using is 4+ years old.

A brand new PC would be good for producing too. The plan is to get one in April.
