its a very nice mixer indeed! its held up for me just fine, even had to use it in a club and its handled it without a problem. obviously it isnt the best mixer in the world though.

depending on how much ur willing to spend you could also look at the ecler nuo3 if ur after 3 channels. a bit on the expensove side but well worth it.

just remember effects in a mixer isnt EVERYTHING!

EXACTLY! Most fun I had was on some old Gemini or something. It had two band eq that did sqwat and the cue was stuffed. Pointless but funny... to me atleast. Dxm09 not worth buying IMO. It is only worth getting the 2 channel DXM for the price and thats it.

y not? the dxm06 and dxm09 are 2 completely different mixers. the layout , the effects ae totally different. the dxm09 was brought out alot later than the dxm06 so they made improvementds to it. my mate has a dxm06 and he finds it difficult to get used to my mixer despite being in the same model range.

also what i meant by effects aren't everything was, look at sum of the reli high end mixers, the best sounding, rane, urei etc.. they are some of the greatest mixers ever but they dont have effects. just coz a mixer has effects doesnt mean its good. djx700 for example

djx700 is garbage anyways. but nustan has made a great point. im the proud owner of a djm800 and you know what? i find little place for the built in effector in my mixes. a little echo or roll/rev roll effect is nice every now and then in good taste. but other than that or the filter/flange/crush/harmonic effects there's very little to use in terms of effects. and in fact i wouldnt even buy an EFX unit unless i was JZ. which is why i recommen the vestax VMC004 as a beginning mixer. the sound quality is amazing for the money (i say this even after upgrading to a djm800 so its definately great sounding), got 4 channels, decent cue system and the faders are alright. the EQ has full kill if i remember correctly and it even has level meters.

cheers guys, i get what you mean about effects, but ive been mixing for a couple years now and ive recently been having sum ideas i need an effects unit to try (itll drive me crazy until i do). The mixer i got with my turntables doesnt even have eq knobs (got it free)! so anything is an upgrade. I wasnt mad keen on getting a mixer with effects BECAUSE i was gona buy the efx unit seperate, so i'll look into the vestax. But to use a seperate unit properly ill need a send/return and the vmc 004 dusnt have that? am i right? argh mixer hunting is so hard when theres no store nearby to check mixers out!!
All ill be using it for is houseparties and bedroom. Advice taken! (any more welcome :D )
i got big pants
check out the denon dn-x500 if you would like a 4 channel 19'' mixer...for the $$$ i think its really nice. good sound, nice faders...all around nicely built mixer. you should check it out
Inertia
the only thing that has kept me from buying the VMC004XL is that i can't cue 2 channels at once... :(

WHY OH WHY? i mean, everything else is just dandy, and it has a cue/mater knob. but i dunno, i wanna be able to cue 2 at once if i want. i'm just picky i guess.

EvilTree
Feel free to disagree with me but this is what I consider in a live performance as a DJ

55% track selection
25% mixing
15% crowd interaction
5% tricks and effects

So in that regard, effects in a mixer are fun, but never a make or break thing when considering purchasing a mixer IMO.

I have a DXM09, and I think it s on pretty much everything I've played on. Not because I own it, not because I'm ignorant to other mixers...I've played on just about everything except an Allen and Heath, but I'll tell you right now that this is worth every penny. It's so ing solid and not so expensive that your flat broke after buying it. I'm not gonna rant and rave all day about it, but for everyone to just be like VESTAX! or something is a bunch of foobar...

yes...
