Now I mean RAVE, aka DANCE PARTY. Not a DJ at a club but an actual Rave::disbelief

EDIT: I didn't start this thread because I haven't been flamed in awhile. Nor did I to offend anybody or to say that you can't call "The Guv" a rave if you want to. (by yourself alone in a closet) Simply a question for those it aplied to is all. No more, no less.

Please define a "Rave". Are we talking Raves of the early '90's? Late 90's? Any all age, all night party with edm?

Last early 90's style rave I went to was in 2004. I went to an abondoned warehouse at Landsdowne and Dundas. The organizers broke in and threw a party in a concrete room complete with exposed pipes, dripping water and extremely unsafe conditions... damn it was great!

Last "Late 90's" rave I went to was last summer WEMF.

Care to expand on that?

Edit(much later): It was a good read. No mention of rabbits however... From now on, I will call you "Nester"

LOL YES! That's the type. Exactly. How about Masonic Temple? I wonder how many people here at TA know about the school bus at city hall?

how is a dj playing at a club not a "dance party"?
i think the definition of 'rave' has changed over the years. back in the early years of rave it was hosted in warehouses and transportation was by shuttle bus. those days no longer exist because if something should happen then there could be some serious insurance issues if the oragnizer is caught. i would consider an afterhour club as a rave now because thats what the rave has evolved to; electronic dance music and partiers dancing all night. plus all the lighting and sound equipment is already in place and they have insurance and sufficient security.

to answer your question: last weekend.

last weekend = Never
That's precisely the point. "Dance Party" never meant going to a bar and all of those things that your afraid of were simply mystique back then and all the more reason to go. The pragmatics had nothing to do with all that and everything to do with if you had enough power for the tables And the lights. Or making sure the drug recovery stations were well marked out and fully stocked with staff, pamphlets, water and fruit-kabobs as well as the reason why DJ music proliferated to what it is now AND why Toronto USED to be known as one of the top 5 towns to play if you were a DJ. My question wasn't meant to invalidate your experiences. Maybe this thread wasn't for you, I dunno...:disbelief
