wii service crap, doesnt offer antyhing worth a penny, playing 1980 games that i can easily play for free on my Computer via emulation is a waste of money.

Sony is the best without a doubt, with masterpieces pieces like Callin all cars and Flow games that are actually fun,its the only thing that can make me pay some money for playing pathetic games with 80's graphics on my beautifull 48inch Bravia.

Congratulations. Your cluelessness is truly legendary.

hehe, you're kidding right man??? I hope so.

I dont' have an XB360, but I know that their online service must rock. Nintendo's service is Ok right now and I know it'll get better. I DON'T MIND PAYING FOR SOME OLD GAMES. SOME. Mind you, how the hell are you going to play Goldeneye 4 player on you PC???? Sony. I dont' know, anyone with a PS3 needs to update

to be honest, i dont know much about XBL or the Wii VC or Sony's Download Service

but paying for XBL service when I already have internet is a no-no to me, another subscription means another annual bill ontop of my cable service. yes i know there is a free multiplayer service offered by XBL but the Gold member status or whatever to play other games to me isn't all that rewarding...then again i don't know much about anything anymore.

the wii's service and marketing of playing 'backed up games' to me is honestly a marketing ploy to tackle the users who don't know. yes RJT made a good point that these are redev'd games with a new facelift which i agree is cool and all, but it shouldn't necessarily be a selling point for such a company when those same backedup games are readily available and have been available as far back as Super Famicom days

sony's service, hrmm haven't seen it don't think i will until i get my ps3. i would suspect to be a poorly designed service at the moment because frankly it's new. anything new in high-tech usually ends up with flaws. i mean everyone got on sony's case about the ps3 having all these revisions and updates and bad news items, fact of the matter is, it happens with all companies. msft windows and however many revisions it went before it became widely accepted.

all in all i have not committed any of my money to any of the 3 systems above simply because i've been able to accomplish all of my gaming habits on my PSP. I have 2-4gb mspro sticks with over 500 games on each. i've got all the latest games on iso and frankly i do not feel like im missing out on anything. the only thing i think im missing out on is the 'fad' that everyone is bellowing out. i'm quite happy im sitting on my money and only dumping cash to purchase memory sticks. i have dvd's full of backed up games that i purchased for pennies compared to hours of game play. so much game play that i don't even remember the names of the games i play LOL

all in all the online service and multiplayer scene to me isn't my cup of tea. i don't think playing a console online is as fun as playing a pc game online, to me there is something about a controller and online gaming that just doesn't fit. like i feel limited to control the environment of the game simply because i can only press so many buttons on a controller. i guess you can say i grew up as a counterstrike kid with console commands and on the fly customizing etc.

its like 60$ canadian a year for gold membership.

Thats nothing, less than what it cost to go clubbing in a single night.

And it's not even required to download games off XBLA.

Where people are getting this idea, I haven't a clue.

Just because people don't seem to read/understand the fine print:

YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY MONEY JUST TO ACCESS ANY OF THESE SERVICES!

I haven't used Wii's service but I have used 360s. I like the idea of getting an older game, like SFII Turbo for example on the 360, but one that you can actually play head to head against others online. Playing old games alone is nothing even remotely new. Emulation has come a long way from the days where I would consider it poor. For example the BAED DVD alone on the Xbox plays every game from every system from the Atari all the way to the SNES and every system in between perfectly. Games look even better than the original by offering all types of graphic filtering options among other things.

I guess though for people that don't know any better and have money to spend on old games, the Wii service would be fun. The offering of being able to play co-op or head to head with people online is the only thing that would get me to pay money for an old game which is why the 360 is currently my service of choice. To each his own...

does the BAED DVD work on the 360 ?

Unfortunately no because you need a modded box. As far as emulation goes though, the BAED is the greatest single console archive game database in existence. Its worth going out and buying an old Xbox and modding it just to use this DVD if you are into emulation.

What I think a lot of you are failing to realize is that you are not indicative of the market of gamers as a whole. Most people are not willing to mod systems they've spent $300 plus on - and see paying $5 for a game as a minor inconvenience made in the name of the greater convenience of nostalgia gaming without the hassle. :)

Not saying you guys are wrong at all - And I'm glad you've found other options. But I honestly think that all three of these companies are breaking wonderful ground, and I definitely look forward to seeing all 3 (yes, even the PS3's) services grow and expand.

RJT you are right, even me i wouldn't be bothered modding the console.

If I want a game, I'm just gonna buy and thats it, no hassle kthxbye, I have enough of it in my daily life :toothless
