Ok, since I'm a NEWB... what kinda dollar-age should i be expecting to drop once i'm in town??? and if possible... can you attempt to break it down by expense type? say... hotel, booze, transportation, cover/admittance, etc...
just trying to get an idea... I actually plan on attending the conference during the day. |

Well that is all depends on where you want to stay..( I say do not go above 22nd street on Ocean, collins or Washington. After 23 you got a good hike to the events)
What parties you go to...( tickets where $15-75 depending on the event)
and well how you party...
Last year I spent at least $1500 on Travle, food, hotel, tickets, cab rides, drinks....
Imo I think the actuall conferance is a waste of money. I would use that $280 or how much it cost on something else. I am sure you can network with out going to the "conference". |

Is staying at a friends place in Fort Lauderdale worth it? The claim is that he is 20 minutes from Miami. We would prolly take a bus/cab back and forth, since we are flying in.
I dont mind hiking a LITTLE, but nothing over 30 minutes each way. Or would it be more expensive for transportation that getting an actual hotel? Any thoughts? |

even if you have a hotel, you will still be taking cabs everywhere. dont try and drive cuz you'll never find a place to park. i was in south beach last weekend and the cheapest hotel i could find was $200 a night and i hit up about 30 hotels. most were $400+. so take your friend up on that offer.
how much money do you need? lol, as much as you can afford. my first WMC i came down thurs and left sunday and i spent $500 cash not including my hotel and tickets.
I'll be coming this year wednesday through monday (3.21-3.26) and will have at least $2k on top of my hotel and advanced tickets. i guarantee i'll come home broke.
a word of advice for those who are driving to miami instead of flying: take however much cash it will cost for gas to get home and hide it somewhere in your car. you dont have to thank me, im happy to help. |

Hotel: $800/$2000
Booze: Do you drink a little, or a lot? Drinks are expensive, and tax is 17%
Taxi: For 4/7 days, around $100/$200
Coverage: (if you want to be smart, buy the wmc badge) $275 www.wmcon.com - (gets you into almost all clubs, ultra, after parties for free) |
