OK. Tell me where to get food! Tonight, tomorrow and Friday. I love all cuisine, no preference.
I'm on Lexington/48th, but cab is no problem.
Thanks :)
Anyone want to join me, that would be cool also. Travelling alone sucks. |

I was looking for that thread but couldn't find it! Yes, definitely look through here, lots of good reccos.
One recommendation if you're looking to be social -- try Stanton Social upstairs for small plates and a good crowd. And, I know the thread covers this one, but I can't stress enough that you need to go to Babbo. If you're alone you should be able to walk in and get a seat at the bar no problem. |

Perfect! Thanks for the info, and the thread link kid nyce.
I've just checked out Stanton Social on the web, it looks very cool - I'll head there tomorrow, I think. Tonight, Milos Estiatorio is looking good. :D
edit: Babbo menu looks fine too. Hmm.. Maybe there tomorrow. Now for some company ;) |

I already did it in the other thread, but I gotta put in my two cents for another Mario Batali restaurant, Otto. I haven't been to Babbo, but I know that The Riddle and everyone else loves it, and I'm sure it's amazing. But the fact that you mention going alone... I think Otto would be perfect for you. Get a seat at the bar. You'll have a good chance at talking to people, and you'll be wonderfully served food and killer wine by their bartenders. It's a place that makes me feel like everything's right in the world.
Have a great time!!! |

I like that line. :) Thanks for the tip.
So, Milos was full and there were people waiting, so I skipped across the road to Osteria del Circo. Utterly wonderful food and wine. Antipasto misto to start with Veal valdostana for main. No desert this time, but what I saw being served to other tables looked equally fabulous. The wine was good too, a Newton Viognier and an Aglianico Basilica. Best meal so far in NY. Looking forward to tomorrow already  |

Just a warning about Supper - A group of my friends and I tried to go on Saturday night, and there was a 1 hour wait. They do not take reservations, and it's cash only. The menu looks great though, and I intend to go back at an off peak time. Also, it's a little out of the way, so you'd be best off taking a cab there.
Another recommendation a couple blocks from there is Anyway Cafe:
34 East Second St. http://www.anywaycafe.com It's really down to earth and cozy with a blend of Russian and French comfort food for very reasonable prices. Plus, they have homemade infused vodkas. A great meal there would cost you under $50 plus they have live music. |
