Official Wintergalactic Cancellation Thread...

Dear Community,
We regret to inform you that the Wintergalactic Convention 2002 is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of any participating parties. The Wintergalactic team would like to send out a heartfelt apology for the unfortunate circumstances, which led to this decision. We sincerely apologize for any and all the inconvenience this has caused everyone. After two successful years in a row we had the utmost high expectations for this year. Even with the enormous support from our community, the odds were against us, which kept us from fulfilling our dreams and our promises. The Wintergalactic team will be back stronger and better for the year 2003. Please accept our apology, and thank you for your continued support and understanding.
Following is the information necessary to obtain ticket refunds and other services the Wintergalactic team will offer our patrons to make amends to the best of our abilities.
TICKETS
Full ticket refunds will be available at all outlets and online. Please contact the original point of purchase location on April 15th, 2002 for a full refund. Also retain the ticket stub, where you may attend our next event at a discounted price.
FLIGHTS
If you have purchased a flight ticket for the Wintergalactic Convention and CANNOT get a refund from your ticketing agent, please retain your original invoice with a copy of the original ticket for proof of payment. We will be happy to provide a complimentary flight ticket for Wintergalactic 2003 upon proper proof provided by you. A fax number will be available in 2003 where you can fax us the invoice and ticket. Please email us so we can inform you when this fax line becomes available.
ARTISTS
We sincerely apologize to each and every artist worldwide that was affected by the circumstances, and the Wintergalactic team will make every possible effort to have each of you perform in 2003.
The Wintergalactic Convention will now be under new management, and for any questions or comments regarding this year or next year, please contact us by email only at:

Your questions and comments will be answered within 48 hours of receipt.
Once again, the Wintergalactic team extends our most sincere apology to each and everyone affected across the globe. We hope to see you smiling next year!

I posted this on the Tribe website but I think it warrants posting here to...
Whatever you do, don't you guys give up!
The worse thing you guys can do is not try again and quit.
Success is not destination, it's a journey.
Oh sure WG2002 crapped out, but winners don't see that as a failure, it was a learning experience!
Take the nay-sayers crap and use it as fertilizer...
I'm sure the next party you decide to have will be great!
Just remember that you still have people that do look forward to your productions in the future.

I agree with you completely.
I hope that everyone that reads these posts, even though you are pissed off about the cancellation, and may be angry at SS, we need to support local promotors and local talent to keep the scene alive here.
Will Sonic State have a State02 party sometime this year, like we had last november? |

| I'm sorry to hear this year WG to be cancelled. I hope SonicState did not lose a lot of money from this ordeal and hope to see SonicState to recover and stay around for the future. Toronto needs a production company like you guys to stay around. As we all know, Toronto's rave/clubb scene is not as big as it was before and it's sad to see all the other companies fail and go bankurpt. |

Everything had an effect on the other. It was like a chain reaction. The lost in venue, created confusion, the confusion created low ticket sales...the low ticket sales created ...etc...you get it.
In a nutshell, its all boils down to $$$$ bling bling!

I think they cancelled because their corporate sponsor backed out on them which caused some problems. That's what I was told. Too bad it got cancelled but atleast we're getting a full refund. |
