Splitting Your Mix into Tracks

With the introduction of iTunes' gapless playback feature, I'd like to release mixes as a zip file full of split tracks, which listeners can just open up and listen to in iTunes, since it's pretty popular these days.

Is there a simple way to do that?

One solution I've come up with would be to create splits of the master file in Nero 6, burn it to CD, rip the CD as mp3s, and rename the files...seems like an overlong process, though...

thanks

any decent audio editing program should be able to splice .wav files; which you can then save as .mp3

you could make a cue sheet then use cuesplitter to split it into the individual songs

What's the problem with using Nero though?

Surely you want a master backup of the mix at full audio quality anyway, and it'll take a lot longer to split the file into separete wave files, then encode them than it will to just fly through Nero and add markers.

You could even help yourself by writing down the timecode as you go through the mix - taking note of the approximate place you think you'll add the Nero Marker to split the track.

I'll keep thinking, and I'm sure there is an answer to this out there which another TA might know, but I'd stick to Nero for the time being, so you can get the master CD of your mix.

That's actually not a bad idea, Recess...up until now I've just been keeping 320kbps MP3s of master mixes.

On a tangential note, I might make the transition from buying 320kbps MP3s on Beatport to buying WAVs for $1 more per track. It'll hurt the wallet, but it makes sense to preserve the fidelity of a track as long as possible when recording a mix...why should I output a mix on MP3 that comprises already-compressed MP3 files?

P.S. Then again, John Digweed probably didn't nitpick about fidelity back when he was a nobody, right?
