:D Hey, im just starting at DJ'ing i got some new stanton cd player turntables for x-mas and i took a class and i got the general info about dj'ing. I started becuase of two things that movie all is gone pete tong, and armin van buuren. Basically trance is the only route i wanna go in mixing and i eventually would like to create, but heres my dilemma.

I know the counts, from the start beat(1-8) and the next track i cue at the 1st and i drop it in b4 the 1 on the first track i have. Here is the thing, i can get beat matching down all i needa know is what do i do with trance becuase there is really no steady beat. and i dont know where to put it in and how lol. Basically if anyone can give me pointers on mixing trance music id be very grateful.haha but i wont be able to practice it for a bit cause my mixer is ed. i gotta return it or something.

Thx

Alt? "No steady beat" you say. What kind of trance are we talking about here?

Hmmm, no steady beat? What kind of headphones are you using?
Captain Croatia

Okay. Gotcha. I highly recommend you read this site:

http://www.recess.co.uk/html/mixbasics.html

He has some great advice there, and he posts on these forums.

Once you've read that section on basic mixing, read:

http://www.recess.co.uk/html/beats_bars.html

to learn more about the structure of a track. I hope this helps. Just keep practicing. You'll eventually get it. I didn't think I would, and yet I manage half assed decent now.

I assume he means phrasing and when to "press play". Not really something that can be taught. Listen to this music for enough time and you'll get a metronome in your head that will count for you, then you wont even have to think about it...

ah thanx dude ill definitly be checking that out:D

Also, find a copy of this book and read it, srsly.

http://www.amazon.com/How-DJ-Right-...3211493-9331127

Not only is it a good book but, it really gives you insight into beatmatching, phrase matching, keying, EVERYTHING.
