Why would it take that long????? |
I honestly don't know if what I said was even true or not, but it would not surprise me one bit. The bureaucratic process is one slower than the bowel movements of most of the members of congress - and not altogether dissimilar. |

If people ing lost it and just had a mass protest, and demanded the troops home, this bull would stop. They would have to stop it! |

Because it's not just him. I don't want to defend his actions, because I do not necessarily agree with them, given the information I have access to, but he is, as you said, one man. The hand of the executive branch can only reach so far, but what is a hand without an arm? What is a hand without a heart? There is no stopping these horrible things from happening because it is not merely a matter of removing one man, but rather eliminating the entire military industrial complex of the United States. Good luck with that. |

I find it funny how you can be so emotionally attached to something that has -all nothing to do with you.
I am not questioning it in the least, because I really feel for those people who are over there, affected by the presence of an oppressive military force and have to face war every day of their lives, but I would never become so attached to something that I, honestly, have no ing clue as to the actual reality of.
Maybe it's not actually you though. I don't know. But it's just odd how people can be so fervent in their hatred for something and still go to sleep each night, safe and sound in their home, thousands of miles away from any ensuing conflict, content with their lot in a life of peaceful passive objection. |

This is the thing.
People like Bush and his ing monkeys all go to bed in their nice fluffy beds, while thousands of men and women are dying brutal, horrible deaths. And in the name of what?
I may not be directly involved, but I have an incredible amount of passion for my dislike in war, especially a war that is as wrong as this one. I have several friends who have been sent, and are currently in Afghanistan, and have been elsewhere in the East. These guys are good friends, and I hate to think that they are being shot at... that they are putting their lives on the line for a war that is incredibly ridiculous. It breaks my heart to see their families worrying about them; missing them and stressing about whether they are ok. Why? What the for?!
Inevitably this war has some effect on me. As a brother country to America, we are made a target for the enemies of the U.S., not to mention it does make a difference in our economy and society. |

That's true enough. I am just skeptical of anyone who fancies themselves as catalysts for 'the big picture' when they honestly don't know what it's like to be directly threatened by war. Not that this necessarily applies to you, I'm just saying...
I also think that war is a really horrible thing, but I really see its necessity and I do believe that there are times to go to war and there are times to not go to war. This is definitely not one of those times though. :/
"Bush and his...monkeys" is an interesting expression though. I wish it were so simple that we could justifiably focus hatred upon a select group of people. I mean, really, it's easy and it's effective - racism has shown us that over several years. It's not that easy though, I'm afraid. The military industrial complex is something much larger than any group of people and that is what makes it invincible for the time being.
Theresa, have you ever read Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath? |

last time i checked, afghanistan were harbouring an organised militia that had unleashed untold misery on america and its embassies around the world. say what you will about iraq, but the US had every ing right to attack afghanistan.
to the rest of you- what would you have the US do? pack up and go home and watch iraq destroy itself? yippee!! |
