I'm quite new to producing with Logic Express, and I have two questions:
1. For some reason, when I select to copy and paste a loop, it will automatically paste itself in an instrument channel rather than a loop channel...and I am not able to hear the loop sample in that channel unless it is in the loop channel. Is there any way to hear that loop in any channel?
2. I would like to use some of the instruments the software offers...I don't have a MIDI keyboard yet, so I need to use the keyboard within the software. Any idea on how activate it and select the instrument I want to record?
Any help is very appreciated! Thank you! |

1. no idea as to why this is happening ...
2. i assume you're refering to the piano roll? ... once you're in the midi editor with that, press 'Esc' and it should bring up a little tool box - select the pencil and you'll be able to draw your notes in. |

| thanks thesuperfunk...i was actually referring to the synth keyboard you can play using the keys on your computer keyboard. i found out how to open it up, when you open up the audio mixer in global mode and hit the caps lock key, it will open up. but i do not know how to choose the instrument i want to use. |

To find the instrument you want to use; create a new 'instrument' track. Under the I/O option, go to Logic instruments and bam - all your synths are there waiting for you.
To answer your first question, if you are trying to use an appl loop; here is the resolution.
You noitce there are two types of logo's next to the samples. The 'blue/waveform' is designed for audio tracks. The 'green/music note' is deligated for instrument tracks. You drag that loop to an instrument track and automatically, the instrument is loaded for you to play.
hope this helps |
