in terms of "great actor" in my opinion, he/she can be diverse in movie genre. if you hand him/her any type of script, from comedy to drama to love story to war drama, he would be automatically great, no matter what.
in those terms, my choices are : Tom Hanks, Edward Norton
Morgan Freeman is an awesome actor, but he doesn't bode well in comedy flics. |

What comedies has Norton played in? :conf:
And what comedies has Hanks played in that were actually funny?
edit: ok, I just remembered Death To Smoochy, but my Hanks remark still stands. :stongue: |

I think I say this in just about every movie thread on here that I post in, but Pacino and Deniro in Heat were absolutely fantastic. . |
I recently watched Heat for the first time, and i've heard a lot about it so my expectations were very high, and still it blew me away. |

his stuff in his early days was funny. such as
Turner and Hooch
Big
A League of their Own <== about women's baseball back in the 50's. he was pretty funny in that movie as the drunk manager. |

isn't that obvious? God is African American. Jokes! He's so good at playing the wise fellow.
Morgan Freeman is a legend. I'm glad that he finally won the 2004 Best Supporting Actor for Million Dollar Baby, after 3 unsuccessful (2 best actor & 1 supporting) nominations previously.
Leopold you forgot Forrest Gump. I prefer Hanks in his more serious roles though.
My vote is for Al Pacino, Johnny Depp, and Robin Williams (he even worked with Maaaat Daaamonnn).
Not sure about actresses... hmmm...
EDIT: Gotta be Scarlett Johansson |

i label that under drama / war drama section. :D . Halycon wanted comedies hanks starred in.
as for actresses, it's pretty tough to actually find a diverse actress. close ones in my opinion are
julia roberts
jodie foster
Toni Collette (<== she has starred in great movies, such as 'Little Miss Sunshine', 'The Hours', 'The Sixth Sense' (flame me here, but i thought it was a pretty good movie when i first watched it) )
Kate Winslet |
