Holy wow

I don't even have that many records, (300+) but dear god it seems like I've been ripping foreeeever. I figure, made it this far might as well finish em, but damn its annoying.

A nice way to listen to all your music though I suppose if you stay in the room with the turntable.

Sorry...just sort of a one in the morning sleepy bitching rant while I sit here wishing I had a little gremlin or small foreign child to do this for me while I sleep, eat, , work etc.

do you really have to convert all your vinyl? i mean wouldn't it be easier to play tracks from their original sources - vinyl stuff on vinyl, mp3s on cd or SSL, cds on cdjs etc.

Maybe he wants the vinyl backed up in digital format incase something happens to the vinyls?

I would not know where to start.

Fighting a losing battle TBH- I buy faster than I can rip it

Well, pretty much yes to all the responses thus far...

The idea is I have Torq, so why not have all of my songs on one database as well as backed up in the event something ty happens to them.

I spin alot of techno and honestly have quite a hardtime obtaining it digitally...so I'm in the boat of "buying faster than ripping" as well.

Of course thats from laziness and lack of motivation. I think maybe I'll just do my best records and keep some just on wax maybe???

I dont know...we buy too much ing music though.

I only have about 150 vinyls or so yet I can barely be bothered ripping one vinyl front and back let alone all of them!
I say just rip the tracks you love and tracks that are rare/white label.

This has bothered my mind for a while as well. Do i rip all my vinyls (250+ish) & sell my turntables or keep the turntables & get the cdj's.

I'v chosen the latter, can't be arsed with it! :p

I did about 20-30 before I gave up.

I am somewhat in the same boat.. I buy faster than I can listen/burn to cd.. then I spend a few nights burning 50+ tunes to cd (and I generally only burn 3-6 tracks per cd)

get a downloading progeram and download them. i mean its not like ur stealing it, u allready bought it.

Format shifting (such as ripping a CD to mp3, vinyl -> digital, re-encoding, etc.) are (or at least, should be) covered under fair-use.

Check your local copyright laws if you are uncertain.

That said, I only have one vinyl =(. I've already converted that. =)

ive thought about this also but decided to buy cdjs and kee pmy turntables. now ive decided i couldnt be arsed burning cds so im buying torq. but jsut going to keep my vinyl as it is because when i use it, it will give that crisp clear sound in my mix.
