A new concert hall is set to open on St. Denis St. in the coming months.
Gilles Laberge, who owns the popular Dagobert club in Quebec City, is putting the final touches on plans to build a concert hall in the former Berri cinema multiplex on St. Denis St. just below Ste. Catherine St.
Laberge told The Gazette the as-yet-unnamed club will have a capacity of between 800 and 900 people, and there will be a discotheque on the second floor.
Laberge acknowledged the timing of the project is good given that the Spectrum, one of the city's most important live-music venues, is set to close Aug. 15.
"Without wanting it to happen, with the Spectrum closing, maybe we can compensate for that," Laberge said.
