Hi evereyone!
Ive been a long time lurker and reader on tranceaddict.com but I believe that today is my first post... so here goes!
Anyway, I currently live in Medellin, Colombia (Im American)...and have been doing production work off and on for a little over a year now...and getting serious again...working with some pros...learning a lot, but frustrated at times too!
IŽd like to share my most recent track that I have mixed down as of today. I would LOVE any and all feedback, critiques, advice, etc in regards to my sound, and this track in particular. Please dont hold back!

Hello and welcome. :)
I most often adjust my honesty according to the skill and experience of the producer.
But since you ask for it. I will give my very honest opinion on your track, downloading now as we speak.
Listening:
First of all the kickdrum lacks way too much low end and sounds very static.
The percussion sounds like the ones i made on Music 2000, like 7 years ago.
The little bleepy sound that enters around 1:00 fits pretty nicely.
At 1:30 i hear something that could be the sound of a bassline.. but it lacks presence and low end.
At 2:00 i hear a violin like sound, which i think sounds pretty good, and the bass enters again, needing more power, presence and low end.
At 3:00 you put a piano in, which i think sounds very good.
At 4:00 you break the track introducing some clockenspiel (spell?) sounds, but what would sound better if u introduced more percussions and drive at that point instead.
At 5:00 The track starting to build to a climax, and doesnt sound bad, until you reach into the percussions, which i find too simple.
at 6:00 Some ambient sounds are brought in, sounds good.
7:00 and the piano is back, and thats my favorite part of the track, as it sounds very old school, which for me is very good.
Overall. i must say this tracks isnt bad at all, the arrangement and the ideas are there, but I could wish for more elements. like more percussions, effects and thicker sounds. But you have managed to make a 9 minute track, and all you have to do is make every element stand out more., use more time to work with the bass, compare to other tracks and you will instantly see what isnt right, but its very hard to judge your own music, since its you who made it.
For percussions i suggest you use more loops, get a hold of the Vengeance Essential Club Sounds volume one, and you will have better kicks, hats, claps, effects and loops, and you will instantly have your tracks sounding better than ever, also, which is good for learning how to put things together.

Really appreciate the straight shooting review, and constructive criticism.
Im really in a pretty large growth spurt when it comes to production, and your words mean a lot, and I take em to heart.

wow nice and detailed....:) I should start running some tracks by you.....;)
as for my opinion: i agree on the kickdrum.....i really like it when the song gets going and gets to the meat and potatoes part of the track....I really like that musicbox/zylophone (around 3:57) sound....not digging the transition sound at (around 4:58) just my opinion but would really like a something a little more electro - but that's just me ;) at around 6:25 am really liking the use of sounds....am with Subtle on the 7:00 mark :)

Hi and welcome , Im dling the track but daaamn its slow...
Havent writen a review for like 4 months, due to the workload Ive had, so here I go after some time!
Hmm I to think the kick could be fater and more filling, try doing some fine pitching and/or play around with your compresors.
I like the way you use the stereo field its very well done and the amount of reverb for the atmospheric elements are great.
How ever You must Improve the Lows on the track, The High and mid parts are good but the kick and base is to week for a modern trance track, they say the mixing of the lows is the differance between the amature producer and the profesional.
and you must "tighten up" the overal mix with the help of your mastering tools.
Other than this The arrangment is very good and the break and kickback is good.
keep up the goodjob.

Never really been a big fan of this kind of basslines, the work in the background is pretty good though.
A bit to slow for me, but that's my problem and not yours.
