Canned Woolley and the lighter side of policing

Toronto's favourite OPP spokesperson has been canned from his role as OPP spokesperson, and will be reassigned. I'm going to miss hearing him on the radio!
For years he's added a lighter side to policing in Ontario, and had the best quotes when describing traffic blitzes, and the people they catch on the highways, whether having sex while driving or speeding excuses.
I remember he once said something like, "soccer moms driving their SUVs thinking they're super mountain goats".
What's your favourite Cam Woolley quote, or funny story you personally had with the cops?

Lame.
It was because of Cam's humour that the message got across better I feel. This sounds like nothing more than Fantino trying to make his mark as quick as possible - i.e. Canning Wooley and the return to black/white cruisers. :rolleyes: |

Fantino is no more than a political shark hunting for his prey.
He did the same thing here in London when he was Chief here. He's more likely to talk to the media and get a camera stuck in his face than make the city a better and safer place.
I remember that he used to still live in Toronto and commute to London a few times a week (yes, only a few) and he would pull people over for speeding on the way with his civilian car.
This OPP PR guy seems like a great guy. Really is too bad his position was revoked. |

He skipped out of my York region before his contract ended for a better opportunity in Toronto. |

Heh, last summer I worked with the police, and they used to hang out with me and tell me crazy stories. We had a transport truck accident one night, and I asked a cop what happened. He told me that the truck driver was jacking off, and it felt so good that he lost control of the truck, and ended up upside down in the ditch. The truck was totalled, and the guy is sooo lucky to still be alive. He lost his load too. (In both ways.)

I won't even get started on Fantino [For him, as the then Toronto Police Chief, to say "We don't do racial profiling" in the face of methodologically sound and convincing research demonstrating its existence was ridiculous; not to mention the role he played in engendering the moral panic concerning Toronto raves during 1999-2000]; but Woolley always kind of bothered me: his humorous, happy-go-lucky, we-policemen-care-about-the-safety-of-citizens attitude continually went in one ear and out the other so-to-speak. I have studied far too many cases and issues relating to the darker side of policing to be able to uncritically accept any pro-police messages.
*Waits for someone to reply: "Okay Nick relax, he was just a traffic officer trying to alert the public about safe driving". |
