English Rachel
Nathalie and Graham are leaving us for an indeterminate period of time and we would love to give them a good send off (don't worry, we are keeping everything crossed that they will be back with us before the summer).

Jeff and Rich will be spinning for our aural pleasure (those who wish can continue the party at Sonic too...).

Thanks to Rose, we have the back room of ICE Lounge on the Danforth all to ourselves. This venue also hosted Nat and Graham's pre-wedding party.

All we ask is that you being a photo of you with Nat and/or Graham so that we can put a scrapbook together for them.

So I feel the need to explain the 'reason' behind this party. We've been hoping for the best for the past few months, but what it comes down to is Canada Immigration dragging their feet when it comes to processing our landed immigrant status (which we thought we'd have by Sept). We've been fighting for a stay, which we lost. There was the possibility of an appeal, but money is running out, and it would be costly and risky. We thought it best to just comply with their ruling and leave, rather than get a 'black mark' on our records/ application for our ultimate goal. We plan to re-apply for work permits, which should hopefully only take 3 mos to get, and then we'll be back. In the meantime, we've got a couple dear friends (Aslan & Rich) who will probably move into our place (which we so desperately want to keep) for the time we'll be gone, and care for our cats.
We still haven't figured out where we're going in the interim. Most likely I'll go to DC, and Graham to Ireland (since the US won't let Graham in via car). 3 mos apart is rather heartbreaking, so we're looking into options of us getting back together in either country, or quite possibly spending a few months in Israel w/my family (provided Graham can get a job at an Irish bar, the one job that would bring a smile to his face, ).

Hopefully we'll get a better idea of our plans by the end of next week, and we'll keep you all posted. Whether we end up in DC, Ireland or Israel, guests are most welcome!
Skipper
Oh Nat, that sucks. I had no idea you guys were going through all of this. Hopefully you are back soon.

I didn't know you had problems with your status Nat. I always thought you possessed a legal status. Canadian Immigration has the biggest incompotent pricks in the government. My families case has become sufficiently complicated because of their mistakes. I have yet to see the green light in Canada and it's becoming rather very frustrating and sometimes hopeless that I could establish anything here.
Congradulations on your marriage and I hope that everything works out for both of you :)

Thanks Marcin. Yes, CDN Immigration is a full of power trippin thinkin they're God love to ruin your day type of people. The young ones working are relatively fine, the older ones though.... watch out. They SERIOUSLY need meds. Once I gain my status, I would be happy to join in a class action lawsuit if there ever is one. The things I've seen them say to and in front of people coming into the country are absolutely racist and reprehensible. The whole dept is facked.

P.S. where have u been????

I've been working really hard for the past year. I don't go out as much to the club scene as if I feel I've matured from it. As you get older more responsibilities come to place & you become wiser.
Nat I remember everybody, you know who you are. I've never forgotten about you Nat :)
tatgirl
Yeah, well I'd love to see you. If not tonight, then maybe at the welcome back party. ;) Bring your sister too.
