Hey guys,

I just recently got Live 6 and Reason 3 working again, and after about 2 and a half hours of playin' around this is what I came up with. I'm satisfied enough to keep going until it's a finished track, but I'd like to know what i could fix/improve on. This is my first time posting in this forum, so I hope you guys like it!

hey kick is muddy, need to get rid of like 250hz-300hz region

maybe some compression, cause the attack of the kick is kinda weak.
iammesol
Any idea on how to do this? I'm using Live 6 as my sequencer.
mysticalninja
whack an eq on after the drum sampler, (simpler im guessing?) use a mid-narrow band and do like -3 -6db around 250hz

put the compressor on after the eq and do like 20-50ms attack and around 100ms release, now put ratio at like 2 and bring threshold alittle bit below where its peaking. adjust gain.

oh and your gonna want to make sure you only do that to the bass drum not the whole drums output. that im not sure how to do in ableton.
iammesol
It's definately not muddy anymore, (thank you thank you thank you!) but has absolutely zero bass. I know kicks aren't supposed to destroy subs, but i'd kinda' like to have a nice boom when it hits.
mysticalninja
the boom is like 100hz and below, you shouldnt touch that, use a NARROW band on 250-300hz

cool.... thanks a ton again :)

I'll upload what i have later tonight.

Kick definitely needs more punch and bottom. Bring down that synth that plays pretty much the whole time, the first one you hear. I think that that is part of the problem with the kick, this synth is so loud that the kick is forced way into the background. Please add some variation to that main synth as well. It is way too static and gets old pretty quick. Other than that, this is obviously still a work in progress so there isn't too much i can suggest that you do. I think that the main thing is just to bring that synth down so that it isn't so overbearing.
iammesol
Will do, and you're right. That synth even annoys me :p I've been tryin' to get everything sounding decent before I start playin' around with major changes.

Thanks again! *can't stop appreciating since i'm a n00b*
