| This reminds me of the "vertical accelerator" ride that I rode often in Panama City Beach, FL. Same concept, basically. You and a partner get strapped into a 5-point racing harness inside a steel cage to which two bungee cords are attached. The other end of the cords are attached to two vertical towers at 120ft. They lock your cage to the ground, pull the cords tight, and then let you go. The one I rode maxed out at 165ft high, and did 0-70mph in 1.5 seconds. Fun shiat, man. One of the guys that worked on the ride would do demos with me, and he'd go limp and flop around. He looked like a dead body up there. It was fun to watch people on the strip react. |
