I was driving through the parking lot of the local grocery store on the way to lunch, and I noticed a nice little Mennonite family driving a brand new Chevy Suburban! I remember when they used to ride in a horse drawn carriage around here. Signs of the times? For background:

He's not a practicing Mennonite. His parents are, though. They live in Pennsylvania. |

| I wanted to say something really disgustingly anti-christian, mocking the fact that progress and a religion such as Christianity could not possibly correlate on the same terms, but from reading up on them, they sound like a good group of people who are far more concerned with human moral duty than most other sects claim to be. Also, they don't seem to be outspoken about stupid , so that's a plus. |

+1. They, as a group, have a well-established history in our small, rural area. They are very moral, and they have one of the best work ethics I have ever seen. In addition, they are simply wonderful carpenters. Many make their living building storage buildings, barns, gazebos, etc.
I just found it a little amusing to see these two little women in this gigantic SUV. Horseless carriage FTW? |
