Running Out of HD space
View this Thread in Original format

My computer only has 11 gigs, and I'm rapidly running out of space to store my mp3s...

does anyone else face this problem?

Regards,

Yup, burn stuff onto disc or invest in a bigger hard drive or some other means of storage. 11 gigs isn't much anymore. [bragging] On my main computer I have two internal 40 gb hard drives and a 80 gb external fire wire drive and I'm getting low on space. [/bragging] I remember when I first started getting mp3's and other things off the net. I would try and store them on 100mb zip discs. Yeah..that lasted about a day or two.

*has 40 gig drive in this computer*
*has another 40 plus a 60 in brothers computer in next room*
:D

So no, sorry, I don't have your "running out of space problem" hehehe
But I do remember the time when a friend got a ONE GIG hard drive! WOW that was SOOO F**KEN BIG!!
What the hell would you do to fill ONE WHOLE GIGABYTE?

(install ten copies of dune 2, thats what :P)

hehehe, same thing happened to me TWICE! and man, i'm on 56k! the first time i bought a 20gig external hd, but that didn't last long. filled it up in 2 months. so now i bought an internal 40 gig hd to complement my other 13 gig drive, which definitely needs to be formatted to recover about 3-4 gigs in garbage and other unneccessary stuff windows has put on it in 1.5 years... and yeah, i had to remove my cd-rom to install the second hd... glad i have a cd-rw:)

as for cds, i never burned any backups, which is definitely stupid, but i will start in the future... it'd take me about 50 cds to burn my 31 gigs, and my writer is a 4x...
Hell_Copter
hey m8 i have this problem too
i have only 10 gb on my computer and for mp3 all i have is about 4 gb
what i do is that i burn the mp3's according to the date i got them, and then i'm deleting the mp3's that i don't like or hear once in a very long time

Hardly a thread for music discussion, moved to chill out,

Best investment in the world, a CD burner, and with such inexpensive drives on the market now, i would get one pretty soon.

i only have a 13gb hard drive but over 30,000 MP3's :)

As has been said get a cd-burner:
1) You wont run out of space on your hard drive
2) You wont post an "I lost all my mp3's thread" :P
3) You can burn to cd so you play ur music on normal cd-player and not only on ur pc

OMG, do you know what that means:
56k6 has an effective dl-rate of about 4k/sec, so to get 1 MB you must be 1024/4 = 256 sec = 4,3 minutes online. 1 GB = 1024 MB, so 1024 x 4 minutes = 4370 minutes. That x 20 (for 20GB) = 87381 minutes. In hours that is 1456 hours, In 2 months! Each month has 672 hours, so 2 months have 1344 hours..... Something is wrong here...

Obviously a slight exaggeration, but that might not be 20 gig of trance, that will b games, OS, etc :)

ain't cd burners the greatest invention for easing the load on hd's!
