| MP3 is already a compressed format, and ziping them aint a good idea either, you get some data loss. But try sommit like zip magic. But there is no way you will get all that on 3cds, nobody has worked out how to compress to that level yet :) |

convert your mp3's to mp3pro, and they will use smaller space
but they will also loose quality under the convertion though ://
personally i recommend you to use 20 cd's than try to compress the files even more. |

| 20 cd's sounds alot, but cdr's, in packs of 10,20,50, cost so little it wouldnt evn affect the weight of your wallet, just take time to burn them. |

I dont think theres any way to compress mp3's anymore (I might be wrong), its very compressed already, look at the size of a .wav
20 cd's aint too bad, they're only like 20p (30c US)each, burnings a drag, but I dont think u got any option really |

try looking into the dvd drives/burners...i'm told they hold anywhere from 2-3 gigs??? of shiznit on each disk.
also i backed up all my videos (7.5 gigs) onto about 12 cdr's in about 3 hours with a 8x burner:toothless.....next to come are livesets:) one day....when i got time to burn.........

| yeah you could always get a tape backup i have a 4gig/8gig(compressed) but its much slower than i like so i only use it for system files and the like...you could get a more expensive model such as the one my dad got 20gig/40compressed....it took 38 mins to back up 7.5 gigs.....extremely fast but it also costs 1000 bucks money i nor many other people have.....i like many other people are starting to back up on CD-R's its fast, sorta,.....cheap and very easy....and take my advice im the one who just lost 18 gigs of mp3's yesterday DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO BACK THEM UP...you will thank your lucky stars when your hard drive crashes....so just suck it up and burn or scrounge up a grand (or about 600 in your case) for a new tape drive ....o yes i just forgot most tape drives are scsi so if you arent familiar with scsi i suggest you just go the CD-R route because scsi requires certain things like a scsi card and some competency in computers so if you are lacking either it will cost you more money or more agrivation......yeah im gonna shut up now just burn the CD's |
