I like my front ported V6's seeing as they're up against a wall :):)

Hey thanks for the great relpies,

so far i think the krk rp8's are sounding good with a sub. As many say it's knowing and positioning your monitors correctly.

also i think it's important having a sub to have control and knowing your low end is gonna not sound like tick..tick....boom...boom!
steve_may
the v6's are wa better....... if u r will to spend that much more :P
keep in mind the V6, with the 6" driver costs the same for 1, as it does for a PAIR of rp8's........
deceptikon
Make sure you get decent stands/isolation pads for them :p
mzvirbulis
since i have no clue what they would sound like comparing them,
what would you do?

pair krk rp8's + rokit sub

or

pair of V6's

?

then save for a sub later
deceptikon
The V6's make enough bass for my needs. Spend as much as you can on monitors basically, forget any other gear you want for now cause in production monitors will EVERYTHING else up.

dude NO

That is stupid.

If your room is untreated, don't get a sub. If your room is any less than 3x4 AND untreated, dont get 8" drivers. You will regret it. I suggest you read into acoustics and speaker design a bit before you waste your money. I'm willing to bet, for you, 8" with a sub is suicide.

Usually when people add a sub to their system they do more harm than good. There are a lot of reasons why this is so, I suggest researching rather than just listening to someone else who bought them - their input is biased ;)

i have the krk rp8's and the krk rp10s sub, this combination is awesome. if u can mix your tracks down and make them sound good on these, they sound AWESOME on any other system. they are a great production referencing monitor.
maybe the midrange sounds poo on your setup lister/echosystem, perhaps because of poor room design/monitoring environment? i have never had a problem with them, they make u work hard to get a mix sounding good.

if they are not for production, but for DJ, id be looking at something else thats a little more 'fun' sounding.

I'm gonna throw a spanner in your works :p
Give me your room dimensions and i'll work out where your bass is being over boosted +20db :stongue:

I heard the speakers in a treated listening room at the music store. It doesn't take a leet mastering engineer to hear that the RP series aren't that great quality. To be fair, RPs arent THAT bad, but you could do a hell of a lot better for the price.

Just because they're popular doesn't mean theyre good.

Get this sub business out of your head :P
Go and see how many pro producers use a sub, do it. You'll find none.

For that price the choice would come down to this for me:

Adam A7
Mackie HR624
KRK V6

I'd be leaning towards the Adams, I quite like those. Regardless, get some CDs and go audition them yourself.

not saying they are super great or anything, but they are not if thats what your saying... theres actually a few well known and respected trance producers out there who use them... i cant remember of top of my head by i thin Sean Tyas uses them :conf:

Theres actually a few well known producers using berhinger truths :p
midor, octagen, jonas steur
again, doesn't make them good.

BT uses m-audio bx5as.
again, again, doesnt make them good.

:D

I guess i shouldn't really be arguing. If you think RPs are good, then you should get them, I just think they're terrible value when you can get something made by Adam for just a bit more.
Fledz
A great 8" Monitor doesn't really need a sub. They will cover that range quite well.
