All the fans from pvd be warned!!!
I dont hate any dj, all dj's are good for me if they can get the people go crazy. I like them all so dont on me after this:):):)

I never liked Johan Gielen (I mean his spinning style)
and now I dloaded a few sets of him and I must say, he's doing very well last months.

The guy deserves a lot respect from me, he's spinning ing wicked and even MORE uplifting then PVD IMO.
If look at PVD at rosenmontags, great set but the part with lalalalalala land is very bored. I dont had this feeling with Johan Gielen, track after track he spins the most uplifting tracks of the moment. So I dont care to get flamed by every PVD fan out here.
Just dont hang out the PVD addict for once and face this in a realistic way.

For me GIELEN is as good as PVD!!!!! --> and I mean the in the uplifting way.(To let you all know, none of these 2 is my favorite, so I look at this in a neutral way)
James holden, Tiesto and Oakey are better because I like their music more.

Just wanna hear what PVD fans have to say on this

I hear ya, I love Johan Gielen, I love his uplifting style

Paul Van Dyk is still the best.......sorry gielen....don't come close.

to tell u the truth i prefer lately Gielen over PVD...
i'm not a pvd addict but i like most of his tracks
with Gielen it's a different story... i like almost everything he produce or remix (with or without Svenson) and his mixing skills are superb
either way... gielen is also not my #1 but i prefer him over PVD right now

I was never a big PvD fan though his mixning skills top most of the lot.

In matters of style I prefer Gielen. I was never a big Svenson&Gielen fan either but in the recent 2-3 months I've been eating and sleeping them... They give an amount of ulift I couldn't imagine and Gielen keeps that up in his sets.

As for PvD's sets... I think he's slowly undergoing the same process Oakie undergoed- He's becomming more progressive and less uplifting which means Uplifting lovers start seeing hm as boring...

I prefer Gielen for style, haven't heard enough of their work to determinate who's mixing skills are better.

I think its a very hard choice and would not like to decide either way at the minute, my head hurts too much!

Toronto trance does my head, he's just unashamedly biased.
i think it's fair to say that even if PVD sets are still good, his productions have gone right done hill recently. For example his take on Jam and Spoon's Be.Angeled was simply bollocks! Not that it was a great tune anyway, but his remix was so uninspired.I'm sure if you listen carefully enough, you might even be able to hear the ch-ching sound of a cash till in the background.

oooh... i can't wait for the backlash on this one!

If you like gielen but have only recently come into him then try his TE set from 2001 with safri duo, awesome work with Marco V - Simulated & beauty of silence, I love the energy gielen puts into his sets plus PVD seems to need to remake every tune so its how he wants it, I'm not saying he's bad, his tunes are ok, but for energy & entertainment Gielen is God
Dj_ExOn
Gielen is god!! I have been a Gielen addict ever since i heard him at
TranceEnergy 2000.
AWESOME set.. the 2002 set is even more uplifting and even more awesome!!
GIELEN IS GOD!

Well...PvD and Gielen don't really spin similar styles of trance. Gielen drops way more uplifting tunes in 120 minutes than PvD ever did. This is why I think PvD is better...his sets have a climax...they start off bangin', he drops down a really uplifting/emotional tune and then he keeps on going with something a little more progressive. Now, I'm not saying Gielen sucks, cause his 2002 TE set was great. Started off really well with Human Evolution - Human Evolution, but, PvD is just better IMO...his track selection is better, and his DJ'ing skills are better too.

Both are great DJ's though, I juse like PvD better :)

Having a purely uplifting set is stupid in a way, cause uplifting trance follows the same formula...builds up slowly to about 2-3 minutes, breaks down, is really calm, then builds up again...anthem comes in, everyone goes crazy. Next track. Repeat.
