question on VST automation in FL Studio 6

I'm trying to automate the filter in V-Station.

What I'm having trouble with is 'drawing' the shape of the automation down at the bottom of the sequencer.

When I want to create an automation clip, I just tweak the filter knob, then goto the menu in the 'wrapper' and select "create automation clip" under "last object tweaked"

then on the bottom portion of the sequencer (playlist editor) i can draw out the automation clip and edit it as I choose.

Is there a way I can 'record' myself tweaking the 'knob' on the V-Station VST and have it save my action rather than having to manipulate the lines on the automation clip at the bottom of the playlist editor?

I hope my question is clear enough ahah. I've tried finding help in the manual, flstudio.com/help, and the "bible" so please dont yell at me me to check one of those hahahahah, i can't seem to find this info.

many thanks in advance!

As far as i know it isn't possible to do this in VSTs yet. You can do it with fruity plugins (i.e. sytrus, etc.), but even then it doesn't make an automation clip, it creates pattern based automation. Editing the automation clip isn't all that difficult though, and much more accurate than doing it on a knob with a mouse.

yea i'll just have to keep messing with editing the automation clip... as far as using the mouse, could always use a midi controller (that i dont have anyways hahaha, just a keyoard no knobs)

but okay, at least i'm not crazy that i couldnt figure it out, thanks for the reply man!

Cant you hit the record button and then edit the automation by tweaking your knobs and then hit the stop button upon playback.

I may be wrong, but i think that this only works on Fruity plugins. I suppose it may work on VSTs but i'm not sure. Either way, that creates pattern based automation, not an automation clip.

Its so easy.
Just insert your v-station, hit the record button, then when it starts playing just move the cutoff with your mouse (or midi cont.)up and down.
When you press stop, you will have the autionation in the event editor. So in the wrapper options click, last tweaked parameter > edit events, then in the event editor window click edit > turn into automation clip. Voilá! Now you have your recorded tweaks in automation clip.

Please note that for the last part you need fl 7 which will be out soon :)

i'm pretty sure you can press the dot up top to enabled recording, and then press the triangle to play the song...

tweak the knob as you will during it playing and it should record that.
