I have been working on a project in FL for about a month now and was working on it a few minutes ago. I closed FL and when i tried to open the project, it says that an error occured while opening the FLP. it says that the file may be corrupted or there may be a problem with a vst.
The project is not in my FL trash bin. I also tried removing access to vst's and it still wont open. If anybody knows anything to do please help me. I really need this file to work. |

try sending to someone else and seeing if they can open it up and turn off some of the plugins you most recently added. if that doesn't work, then revert to an older version? |

Try renaming your VST directory temporarily and loading again.
Try changing any settings you can until it works!
Even try renaming the FLP file. |

so far i've tried:
removing access to vst's
renaming flp
copying flp
re-installing fl
posting on the official tech support forum
posting on another fl forum
having other people try to open it
running the diagnostic to fix it from the fl tech support forum
even tried doing a system restore, but i can't because my system hasn't changed since any of the restore points
if anyone has any other ideas they are much appreciated
thanks
edit: how do i revert to an older version? |

C:\Program Files\Image-Line\FL Studio X\Trash bin
You'll probably find it in there. Don't open up anything else until you copy the contents of that folder elsewhere ;) |

yeah...
sorry to hear that... it's happened to all of us.
now you know: NEVER use "Save/Save As"... always use "Save New Version".
Every time I add a new element to a track, or tweak something vital, or change a melody or bassline, I save a new version... usually have 30-40 by the end of a track.
Though you may be able to filter through the corrupted data with a hex editor to extract certain elements like sample names and midi notations... no information on that for you though. |

AMEN!
Always save a new version when making large / vital changes. I make a new file version every new day i sit down with a project. I've only adopted this practice because I've been bitten in the past. It sucks to learn the hard way. |

That's what I do, I usually have 10 or more versions by the time I complete a song. Sure gets crowded in my projects folder, but at least I can always go back if a flp gets corrupted.
Enigmatic XTC, sorry you can't recover that file, we all know that frustration. Maybe there's still hope, but you have tried pretty much everything. Can you even access the file at all? I've had a few that got corrupted and wouldn't play at all, but I could still save the compositions from each channel. |
