Nuo4 vs Xone 32

yeah it's another comparison thread. which one would you pick? or is there an even better one in the price range? There's also the Mackie d2 but I find it a bit sparse for the price, plus an extra $200 for Firewire. these are the main points I've come up with:
Channels: 4.5 on the Nuo4, 3 on the 32. Nuo4 also has an assignable crossfader (and fx return? is that another .5?), though I don't really use the crossfader it could still be useful.
Features: Midi controller vs. onboard filters.. I know I would use the filters but I'm not sure about MIDI.. and either one can theoretically be done with a seperate device. Nuo4 also has adjustable fader curves.
Sound: I hear complaining about the huge midrange EQ bandwidth on the Nuo4 (as an aside, why are there no DJ mixers with EQ center frequency or Q controls?), and nothing but good for the quality of A&H mixers.
I'm leaning toward the 32, but I feel like if I'm going to be spending this money on a mixer I don't want little annoyances like having to swap cables around because it doesn't have enough line inputs or bells and whistles beyond the filters. Maybe I should find a place to demo them but can't it be easier than that? :P |

I'd go with the Nuo 4. It's a damn nice mixer by all accounts. The mid range you'll get used to no doubt, and most importantly, it has midi. You may not need it now, but with more and more DJ's turning to software/hardware hybrid setups, having a mixer with built in midi would put you in a great place for future upgrades/additions to the setup.

Edit: You're right that filters via external units or software are readily available. I'd take midi over the A&H filters, no matter how good they are. |

i personally like the nuo...as miamitranceman explained the midi, it is a good investment.
i also like the size of the eq knobs on the nuo4. im sure eq knob size is up to you, but i feel like i have more control over bigger ones....

When I upgraded (to my Nuo4) the Xone32 was the other mixer I was looking at..
For me the Nuo4 was slightly more expensive.. However, after I got to using the filters (in store) on the 32 I didn't really like them to be honest, and the EQ's didn't amaze me (granted it was a short test)..
I love the EQ knobs on the Nuo4.. Very easy to control, the mid's are wide, but I have actually come to like it for the way I mix.. Plus the Nuo's are DAMN sexy (if that means much to you..) :p |

There's a huge price difference between the two products here and they're definetly not ones I would group together in the same "range" as such.
Although the 32 is a good little mixer. It's not the one I would chose. The Filter's are fantastic though.
I would go for the Nuo4. It's got a solid build. The faders are really of a high quality and you can't complain about it having the midi compatibility. That's a HUGE bonus. Run it through Ableton, Traktor, whatever takes your fancy. You're pretty much future proof. For a few years anyhow. |

| Definately go for the Nuo 4, it will to be able to satisfy your needs incase you ever decide to upgrade your setup, and if you want the filters you could always re-create them in Ableton and use the two MIDI channels to control them. ;) |

Yes the gains on the back is very odd. I read somewhere that the intent was that DJ's shouldn't be using them anyway, so they stuck them on the back for the sound guy to adjust. Who knows...
I don't like the studio style faders of the 32.
The cue thing doesn't bug me, as that's how it is on the 92. The 92 is probably the first mixer A+H came out with with normal ergonomics (not including the V6, which I think came out earlier, and is awesome).
