RANK 1 'COMING TO AUSTRALIA'
1. When you came to form Rank 1, what unique past experience did each of you have?
During our very first live performance for a 15.000 people audience we experienced a total mute in the sound system.
After half a minute of desperate trouble shooting, Piet found out that Benno had shutdown the master volume knob of his JP8000 keyboard and forgot to open it again for the next track!
Now that's embarasing
2. There is a live webcam of your new studio on your website. What’s been happening in there of late?
Beer, women and country music ;) But seriously, some new remixes are coming out in the near future, and we are working on a collaboration with vocalists for a new Rank 1 single. It's been a while since there has been one, but we feel the need to give trance a different twist. Aside from Rank 1, Benno also works together with Ronald van Gelderen.
3. What other sounds and styles outside trance influence your productions?
Anything from pop to classical and in between. We listen to a lot of breaktbeats, techno, sound of the eigties, and rock music to name a few. But we really believe that in all music there's inspiration to be found.
4. Is remixing as satisfying as crafting your own tunes?
In a way it is. It's always a challenge to give the remix another twist compared to the original, but in the end own productions are most fun to look back on.
5. How was working with Armin on The World Is Watching Me?
We and Armin go way back, and we promised each other we would build a track someday. It was real fun to do, because besides making music the most important thing for collaborating is to have fun while you are in the studio! It was nice to see we both have different influences and ways of working, and that's needed for a good result!
5. So does Piet handle all the DJ duties, or do you guys sometimes tour together?
We sometimes tour together, but that's only for the live act we do once in a while. Sometimes Benno travels with Piet but that's for fun only. The statement is : Piet is the DJ and Benno not (although Benno would be a good DJ (Piet's answer :)))
6. What can your Australian fans expect from his tour?
A lot of fun and a variety of trance, tech trance and some (electro) house! What can Piet expect from them ;) ?

Can i please give whoever did that interview a few pointers? Firstly, its Rank 1 there is going to be way more questions to ask then THAT! Secondly, two question 5's.
Also it sounded like he didnt even answer that first question?? |
