Reason: Making synth sound softer?

I've been coming up with some half-decent stuff in Reason lately, but all have a common problem, all the synths I create sound too harsh. What's the best way to make a synth sound softer.

Maybe I just need some pointers on making good synth in Reason. I still haven't been able to make a good trance synth. Should I be using multiple subtractors?

Help plz.

Oh btw, to see what I mean about my synths, see attachment (I know melody sux, but I did it quick so I could show what I mean about staticy synth)

EDIT: I guess attachments don't work, so here it is:

i would try lowering one of the frequency bars or lowering the env. in the velocity section

that should soften it up .....

i hope

For a softer sound, adjust the frequency and the velocity of the notes. Throw the frequency way down, and it sounds softer. Try adding more attack and sustain too.. and then some reverb. I recommend the Lead 3 sound to use as a nice trance synth.
