Ha, I am not black. Not really sure with how that would make a difference if I was a sensible person either way. Although... I am part Sicilian. :nervous:

What really chaffes my nuts is CNN's coverage of this. They almost seemed to be behind the goddamn thing.

This seems to just be in a long line of black vs. white issues where I am seeing devices used to combat racism are just as bad as the ones that were/are set up by the white system. Another example would be Obama's Black Only Senate (possibly house too) group that was reported on not too long ago. A Louisiana congressman who was elected from a predominately black district wanted to join the group as he said his black constituant (sp help) deserved to be represented in this Black Only group that Obama is a part of. The denied him membership, as he is white. All of this rings alarms in my head, especially since Obama is/was looking like a prime candidate.

Look, no matter how much you write, no matter what you think, you have no conception of what that word means. I don't either.

Why would you be outraged by this? Who cares if it is outlawed and then repealed on constitutional grounds? What a stupid thing to get upset about. Do you think the Republican Supreme Court will let it stand?

While I am not saying that the N word is not loaded. It is, and as much so as any. BUT, making it criminal to say words is a slippery slope. The mayor who is trying to pass this thing says he would like charges to extend to all kinds of slurs for all ethnic groups. A black minister in the area said he can think of about 40 slang words for black people that could be outlawed. You see where this is going? Then you'll say, but '******' is the worst. Which will merely be a subjective view, but nevertheless one you will find many people have. So crumb by crumb the freedoms to speak how you choose fall away until we are all spitting out only a few words or phrases for fear of saying something that will offend someone else.

Personally, I would kill someone if they called me a "neoconservative" ... so I think this law is a good thing.
