Hello everyone
Im just writing to try and get some information about the Australian clubbing scene. Myself and my girlfriend will be travelling around the world from June 07 to Sept 07, stopping in Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia, New Zeland, Fiji, Cook Islands and then Los Angeles before we get home. We have a week in every destination except we will be spending a month in Thailand and a month in Australia.
As i DJ here in Ireland, I was contemplating bringing my CDs with me and trying to get a gig or two while travelling, if possible. The two of us are big into our dance music and would also love to catch a few dance nights in as many of the different places as possible. I know that places like Fiji, Cook Islands and Indonesia are not exactly EDM hotspots, and i honestly dont know anything about the scene in Thailand and Singapore.
Because I am in Thailand and Australia for a month each (Ill be in Bangkok/Pattaya/Kohn Samui in Thailand and Brisbane/Sydney in Oz), I would love to try get a once off gig while i am in each place but I havent got a clue who to contact or what clubs I could approach. The holiday is more a backpacking style holiday rather than me looking for DJ work abroad i.e. Im going purely to see the world and experience as many different things as i can but if i had a gig or two lined up it would be a bonus.
Basically, if i dont manage to get a gig sorted out before i head off, i will leave my CDs at home but I would love to contact a few places to see if anything was possible. Also I would love any info that anyone has on the clubbing scene, best nightclubs or even just general tips and info on any of the places i have mentioned above.
Thanks to anyone who has any info, much appreciated. ;)

| I can put you in contact with someone in Fiji where you might be able to spin a few tracks. This guy runs a night called 'Detour' at a bar in Suva and the idea is pretty much for travelling DJ's who are in town to spin some tunes. I played there about 5 years ago and it's still one of the best gig's i've had :) |

hey dude what type of music do you spin? got any mixes/demos online?
might be easier to point you somewhere if we knew what style(s) you play.
btw, sounds like an awesome trip. Is there going to be a proposal along the way? ;) |

Thanks for the feedback.
My style is mainly based around progressive house & progressive trance, but im just as happy playing funky/electro/tech house, trance, some techno. I dont have any mixes online at the minute but I can send a mix to anyone who wants one. I will put one up on the net when i get a chance and ill let you know when its up. In the meantime if anyone wants a demo, just gimme a shout with your email address and i can send it to you.
Yeah that Fiji gig sounds great - thats exactly the sort of thing i was talking about. If you could give me details on how to contact him it would be much appreciated.
