What is your Favourite set of all time??? (pg. 6)

I'm baffled as to how any one individual can actually have a favourite set. As time flys by I notice the inconsistancies throughout sets in the past. There are still some undeniably amazing live mixes... but I don't think I will ever have one favourite mix. However, I MUST give credit where due and Oakey absinglutely destroyed each and every set he layed down for his essential mix world tour back in '99. I have yet to see a DJ come even comparably close to his consistancy back then. Unfortunately, it can't and won't ever last long enough for a DJ to be always spot on to what we are expecting from them. We all develop such new styles and tastes and throw out the old ones.. and while we can still say " man that one live mix 10 years from _______ is still insane, I can't even fathom what that party must have been like"... we realize that it was a moment, and a moment you can never get back... and thus we move on to new and better things with the hope that we progress as the years pass by rather than the latter of what most DJ trends follow; regression at its finest.

Bahaha well, I do my best to tell it as it is... and from experience thats how it is. I'll never be able to speak on behalf of most people, but I'm sure at one point in time, whether its already happened or waiting to happen... if you stay in the scene long enough you will eventually be able to relate.

GREAT call. Gatecrasher 1999 is my pick of the two but Creamfields was amazing as well. Ahhhh what happened to our long haired friend...

Fav live sets are:
Paul van Dyk- some random Wednesday Night in October 2003 at Guv b4 POD 1
Marco V- December 2004 at Guv
Armin van Buuren- Decadence 2005

Fav song is easy... simply by virtue of no other song in any other genre holding this much personal meaning...

Robert Miles- Children (Tilt's Courtyard Mix)

That PvD set was in 01. I have a vid of him dropping for An Angel as an encore, mainroom went nuts. That set was awesome!

My Favs:
Tiesto at Trance Energy 2000 (set that got me into Trance along w Tiesto @ Innercity 2000)
Marco V - Exposure 2004
Gabriel & Dresden - Essential Mix Radio 1 (03-08-2003)
Paul van Dyk - Essential Mix Live at Gatecrasher Summer Sound System (06-17-01)
Paul van Dyk - Live at Club O (02-12-2000)
7-4-7
John Digweed Essential Mix 2005
Chris Allen
Tiesto - Millennium Set, Trance Energy 2000

I can still listen to this set and love every bit of it (except the MC)

One of the best sets I ever heard was right on this site.. Misja Helsloot@ Club Asta. For a guy who's transitions were sketchy, tracklist made little sense; it was mindblowing. I think the beauty of a set is not really who's playing it, or how technically good it is from all the DJing critics, it's about having that feeling that really goes beyond your expectations. I didn't think I'd listen to this set twice while I had first d/led it, but I think it might be the one set I'll never delete.

Yeah dude, killer. Although recorded live (well at least faded in crowd sounds) to be fair it's more of a compilation (even like Katie's very first post, ISOS3 lol!)
