Nice or mean?...which one is better

ok so... it was a normal day yesterday, wake up at 5 am in the morn.. go to school, go to volleyball practice, get out of practice and go home..after i get home i go to the mall... in the mall, im going to the vending machines cuz im thirsty.. so this lady comes up to me and asks for my help.. she needed to find an atm machine but she didn't know where they were... the problem was that she didnt speak any english.since i speak spanish and english, i helped her out... that makes me a nice person, now. this is how i am, im a nice person but sometimes its not a good thing.. like yesterday during practice... my coach tells me that i have to be mean .. that i have to stop being so nice to others. now today i hear the same thing, that i have to stop being so nice.. that i have to be mean and not help others because no one will help me. at this point i don't know what to do.
Are you mean? or nice?

| I'm probably "too nice" as well, really. I guess I'm just not a very confrontational person. But when I do snap, I really lose it. Like those people that black out and the next thing they know they're looking at triple homicide charges. :eek: |

There can be no absolute answers to such questions.
It's not nice to be mean to people who need your help.
Then again, it's nice to be mean to your opponents while playing volleyball.
You should act appropriately depending upon the situation. :) |

i look mexican (no wait, i AM mexican), but when mexicans come up to me and say "hables espanol" i say "i understand it but i can't speak it, but did you have a question?"
in fags coming here and asking if i speak spanish IN spanish IN america.
When i go to mexico, i try and speak the ing language first and if i get ing frustrated, then i apologize (in ing spanish) and please have patience with me. and if someone says "habla poqito ingles" (i speak a lil english), then i'm like "OH ING GOD WHY DIDN"T YOU SAY THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE !" |

| Your coach is telling you to be mean because he wants you to be aggressive when you play, I don't think he's telling you to go out there and kick puppies. |
