That bass player is amazing as well (whats his name btw?)...I've never heard a bass played so beautifully before. I love music that takes an instrument like a bass which is usually a more background, strictly rhythm instrument and brings it out into the forefront and makes it sound so unique and beautiful.

also, for anyone who thought that guy was good, check out anyone who's over 30 and was classically trained
guitar seems to be mostly a self-taught or at most random lessons from some guy who plays kinda instrument, whereas like the piano the bar for playing is waaaaaay higher

You can tell these guys really "know" music and have amazing ability to play it. It just makes me sad because there are so many bands today (not all of them but most) that have musicians that can play basic music (3-chord progressions, pentatonic scales, etc.) but they never really explore music beyond that. Music can be so complex and deep if one puts the time into learning it. Music is meant to amaze the listener and stir their emotions out of them, most simple music just can't do that for me.

That guy on the ukulele is Jake Shimabakuro, a legend here in Hawaii. I haven't had the grace of seeing him live, but I have heard his work on the local CD's he and his ex-band "Pure Heart" released here years ago. Here is a video of a young band doing a cover of a song he wrote called "Bodysurfing", with him as a special guest (playing rhythm).
And since we're speaking about talented musicians, I'd like to introduce Andy McKee to those of you who don't know him. AMAZING.

Does he do any other collabs or individual work? The only Dave matthews stuff I listen to his is Live at Luther College Discs, only because Tim is in each song with him. I would love any other Tim Reynolds projects...

they played at kahala mall once. was pretty cool to see them live and it was also pretty crowded so ups to them on gathering a crowd.
