How should I organize my vinyls

Hi there,

I'm starting to have quite a few vinyls now and would like to organise them correctly.

I don't have a clue where to start ?

How do you guys organise your vinyl collection ?

Your help is really apreciated.

Btw, does anyone here use discogs to enter their vinyl collection ?

Is it usefull ? Not usefull ?

What are the advantages of discogs ?

i organize mine in genre

ie.

Disco House at the the front
then Electro House
Then Prog House
Then Techno
Then Prog Trance
Then Trance
Then Hard Dance/Hard Trance

thats for my record box which holds 90 records and it changes by what genre im playing ( i mostly play electro house so there is generall mostly those in there but i will usually take some of each yep of genre just in case)

just in the order you find easiest for you to find things with

I organize my vinyl alphabetically by artist. I also use discogs. I think it's kinda nice. That's my $.02.

Mine aren't organized at all - it's just 500 records in a huge, unorganized mess. Yet I know exactly where everything is.

Discogs looks great although I've not had the chance to enter all my collection yet. I organise all my music in alphabetical order by Artist.

i have them organised by genre but however you do it you always seem to know where every track is for some strange reason.

do it by genre, and then alphabeticaly

mine are organised by key.

DJ Intrigue
Alphabetical by record label. The most easiest and straightforward, IMO.

Everything is sorted into categories (one for EDM, one for non-EDM singles, one for 45s, and one for non-EDM albums), then alphabetical by artist name and title.

I don't use Discogs, but I do key all of my records into an Access database. It's really easy for me to see my whole collection at once using the DB...
