when you read or think to yourself...you hear your voice in your head.

or the occasional time ur tripping and u start hearing other :toothless

do people who speak different languages think in their heads in that language?

of course they do, but damn, its weird.:eyespop:...if ur chinese thinking to urself u think in chinese...but it equals the same thing in english if u spoke english.

LOL what a silly thread. Yea, I think everyone "hears a voice" so to speak when they are reading or thinking, and it would only make sense for them to "hear it" in their language.

I realized that when I was three.

You might need to stop smoking so much. Many times my thoughts don't accompany any words. Just thoughts. Actually I have many thoughts that I feel are somewhat impossible verbalize.

This is actually the heart of an interesting philosophical dispute. What does it mean to say that two phrases of different languages "equal" each other?

And of course, congenitally deaf people likely do not "hear" anything at all "in their head," but they can think as well as the rest of us. Helen Keller was smart but both deaf and blind. What did the "inside of her head" "sound" like?

Fascinating to think about.

I try doing that but find it harder to talk to myself in my head in my second language...takes longer to process everything....

...don't know if that made any sense :wtf:
