My mixer is shocking me!

Hey everyone,
This may sound strange, but my mixer sometimes actually gives me electrical shocks when I touch it. I have a Numark DXM06, which is about 3 months old now, and I've never had this happen in the first 2 months I've owned it.
Is anyone else experiencing this or know what causes it. And does someone know what to do to make it stop?
Thanks

That's awesome
plus you can carve out a niche in the saturated market with the rubber gloves gimmick.
You can take a name like "DJ E-lektrick" or "Shockmaster Funk"

Seriously though, are we talking like a serious shock? Or just a normal it's winter the air is dry and i was walking on carpet and touched something metal shock? Does the sound change at all when it happens? |

Nah, the shocks aren't really serious, it's the same kind if shock you describe integrar0064. Electrostatic discharge or something that's called right?
It has no effect on the sound, but I don't know wether it hurts the mixer or not... |

No. It doesn't hurt the mixer. Happens to my gear every year when it's really cold outside. |

That's comforting to hear. It's probably only got to do with the fact that winter just started here a bit. Although the winter was really lousy here this year, temperature never dropped below 5 degrees celcius here...
Yay for global warming :P |

If you ever wanted to know why some equipment offer 3 prong plugs, it's to prevent static charges destroying equipment. |

| Used to happen a lot on my DJM3000. Hasn't done it for a while now. Still have no idea what caused it. |

| Is it something that happens only the first time you touch the mixer, or does it reoccur frequently? A one-time thing could be explained by ESD, but if it reoccurs frequently (eg. you're standing in the same place and get shocked every so often), it's probably not a good sign. |

| I had a problem with my mixer where touching the metal case at all would give a constant shock kind of feeling. It was a weird burning feeling, I didn't exactly keep trying it out tho. Turned out it was because I had a dodgy USB plugged into the external soundcard connected to the mixer. |
