I dunno. I'm big on going to medical school but I could give two s towards writing a paper for a "Literature from a European Nation between the 15th and 17th century" graduation-requirement course.
Either way, I finished the graduation requirements a while ago. Now I just gotta finish my Biochem and Japanese majors. :stongue: |

Yeah I don't expect anyone to be interested in ALL that they have to do in school...but someone like yourself should take stuff like this seriously. I dunno about your med school...but they don't around when it comes to plagiarism and other academic wrong-doings at my school. There is zero tolerance for plagiarism in the nursing program here...anyone who gets caught doing it gets automatic expulsion and the process to get back in is a BITCH. They have to go through a review board, etc etc. Most people don't get back in.
So yeah, I would never risk my career...my LIFE...for something so stupid and lazy as plagiarism.
I guess I'm a dweeb...I really like my courses, and enjoy doing my homework and learning. Then again, most everything I learn is pertinent to nursing and I have genuine interest in it. |

You are absolutely, positively right regarding plagiarism and wrong-doings. That's just something you don't do. You're better off half-assing an assignment than trying to pass off a good one that you didn't even do. Why even take the chance, you know? Haha. |

| It's sometimes a bit scary when writing college papers because you have to be very thorough in order to not plagiarize sometimes. This is of course if you have a nazi teacher. I'm talking about if you write a paper and forget citing something you included in it or paraphrasing something "too closely." It's not an intentional act of plagiarism but if a teacher was a dick they could still nail you for it. My guess is if most teachers felt the act was unintentional they would simply inform you and have you change it. A lot of college professors are pretty serious about the subject though and may not let you get away with it. I'm always really careful to go back through my papers when I'm finished with them to make sure I didn't miss anything as far as plagiarism goes, it would suck to lose out on 3 years of school because of a stupid mistake. |

ive had two things published and should be submitting another this spring :) and of course I cite myself. thats how you get your name out.
but for a class assignment, dont use previous papers. Most profs dont state it, but they assume you know that for every assignment you should turn in original work that has not been used before. You can cite your earlier work, but they will call it bs since it was not printed in a peer reviewed journal.
but ur done, so who cares :wtf: was it even that hard? |

You're in Psych right Boomer? What did you have published? Any links to journal articles? I still have access to most journal articles through my Uni, even though I finished my psych degree 3 years ago :stongue: Would be interested to have a read :) |

Even if a class sucks, and the topic of the paper does nothing for you, you should always attempt to write a paper on your own. It is an academic exercise, every time you write something you gain experience which will help you later on.
The whole point of an education should be to gain a better understanding of the world around you and to gain the skills that will allow you to react and adapt to new situations and experiences later on.
Unfortunately for many people, the point of an education is to get a piece of paper so they can get that cush job.
If you look at your entire educational experience as a tool to use when you need it, instead of an obstacle to getting that piece of paper, you will be better off in the long run.
