Sup Brian!!!
Actually I'm gonna be in Philly on Feb 27th and will be in Atlantic city for the 28th then back to Philly. I was thinking about driving to NYC and visit for a few days but then I kinda change my mind...
and no WMC this year :( |

I second that. If you're looking for sights, check out the Philadelphia Art Museum and the Franklin Institute. Don't bother with the liberty bell/historical stuff. There are also tons of little art galleries in old city that worthwhile checking out. |

Run up the steps of the art museum like Rocky! :p
For restaurants:
Cereality :p
For cheesesteak, Joe's and Geno's are popular spots. I'm sure other ppl here have other preferences.
It's too bad One14 is longer around, as they had great DJ's there.
Is 611 Records still the main shop for EDM there? |

I can fill you in with the Vietnamese food at Philly, because this is where you'll probably find the best of it in the northeast area.
If you like Vietnamese food, you can find the best casual bowl of Pho at Pho Ha on Washington Ave. and 6th street. The setting is like an asian Mcdonalds or fast food diner. Very casual and homely. I recommend Pho Tai if you like beef, Pho Ga if you like chicken, or Pho Dac Biet (Special) if you are adventurous and would like to try it all. For desert or side drink, try the avocado or jackfruit milkshake. Yum. Their non-soup entrees such as broken rice and pork/chicken/beef, rice vermicelli with pork/chicken/beef, fried spring rolls are also delicious. If you order the pho, don't be surprised to experience unusual serving speeds. "I'll order a pho t... BAM! Tai..." Now the best part, it's crazy cheap! 5 bucks for the biggest bowl of noodles in your life. Free tea served the second before you even step in the door. 3 people in the party = 15-20 bucks! This place is my second home in Philly due to it's casual atmosphere, budget, and easiness to walk in and eat my favorite bowl of Pho.
Other Vietnamese restaurants to die for but have a more formal atmosphere are Nam Phuong on Washington Ave, Vietnam Palace and Vietnam Restaurant on 10th and Race in Chinatown.
At Nam Phuong, order a broken rice dish (pork, chicken, egg, w/e), banh xeo / vietnamese omelet, or the dinner for 2. The dinner for 2 is incredibly cheap for the amount of food you get. Would fill probably 4 people in my family. As tradional vietnamese food gets.
Vietnam Palace and Vietnam Restaurant are more appealed to tourists with their flashiness, awards, and location, but that doesn't mean the food there isn't great, because it's actually much more than great. Go to both of these places if you would like to treat a special occasion while spending the least money possible. Don't get me wrong, you'll be treated like a million bucks with an absolutely stunning atmosphere for much less than you would expect. The atmosphere and lighting is perfect for dates and special occasions. I say both because both these places are pretty similar to each other. Vietnam Restaurant would get the edge in atmosphere. Vietnam Palace would get the edge in food due to their dinner for 2 dish. (and also the hot bartender)
My best bet would be on stopping by Pho Ha on 6th and Washington of South Philly for a nice and quick bowl of Pho for a mere 5 bucks. Don't be afraid to come alone. It's that casual! Many non-asians stop by after work in their business suits just to get a nice quick bowl. Also there is a free parking lot directly in front, which is a rare scene in Philly. Instant service, cheap, and the best bowl of noodles you'll ever have in your life. You definitely won't regret it. Hope this all helped! :) |

611 is pretty much our only vinyl source of edm, but for cds/singles, I prefer tower records on south street (if it's still open)... bangin' selection!
Right now King Tut is on display at the frankin institute; I think their only east coast stop; so that's a cool thing to check out.
Goin out midweek usually isn't much fun; but 125 is always open late night.
And for food; I take all my non-philly friends to Lorenzo's if they want pizza, the continental if they want sit down |
