maybe for a toyota or a honda. i have a vw...it's german, so it's way more for labor...and parts.
i asksed around...and i also considered putting in a used transmission, but my mechanic and several other transmission specialists said they wont do that. you never know where ur getting the transmission from and it's always a problem and u have to pay for shipping if somethingn goes wrong, etc...it's too risky.
it's a 99 and the body style and everything else is really cute. it's fully loaded with leather and all that and i owe like 5k on it, otherwise i'd get a new car. but if i'm gonna try to hold onto this car for another year or 2, i'm gonna do it the right way and just have them rebuild the entire engine. i'll easily get another 70-80k miles out of it after that. it'll be like new. |

just a question, why did u write in the decimal points when there's nothing there?
kinda startled me, i was just reading quick thru the responses, and its half 5 in the morning so im a bit tired, and i saw "$3,000.00" and i read it as three million dollars lol..
edit: oh and yeah, i dont know what auto parts go for over there, but 3 grand for a transmission is pretty steep, even for a brand new car. And I don't see why VW should be any more expensive. Have u tried going to a non brand mechanich? I don't know if thats the right term, but basically it's an independent mechanich.. lol im teh tired |

i dunno why i did that lol
anyway it's about 2400 bucks, but i decided to exaggerate. it's not for an actual transmission, it's for a rebuild. involves more labor and stuff...trust me i've explored a lot of options and i'm not getting ripped off. i've been going to my mechanic for ages...he even tried to talk me out of doing this. he doesn't want to see me drop this kind of money into that car. |
